Most of you who read me regularly know me from #freewrite, where I keep up a short story or two every day, and some of you know me from #music and #classical-music because I put up piano improvisations and share the steps in major composition projects as I go.
But I was an author before I came to Steemit, and I am about to put out my third published book, a return to the subject that got me into being an author in the first place...
I noticed, when I began as a writer, that my fellow musicians were getting messed around on the business side of music – getting music stolen from them in a bunch of ways, watching other people profit while they floundered.
So, in 2008, I put out the first edition of The Freedom Guide for Music Creators, to cover the basic music business ground that I saw musicians struggling with. That book is still selling, and I have just interacted with a satisfied customer and given tips on copyright and how to get started with an album. The book is in its third edition and still going and and going...

But then it occurred to me: there is a lot to be done in digging down deep into the subjects covered more generally in the bigger book, so, earlier this year I put out my first course, The Ultimate Guide to Copyright Songs …

But then I realized there was still more to share, so, my third book, From 360 Deal to Work-For-Hire Clause: 15 Music Business Terms to Know is an exposition on things that musicians seeking record and other kinds of common contracts need to know – what is in the contracts, what NEEDS to be in the contracts, what the general trends are around the usage of music contract terms, and what it all means for the musician who wants to get paid! Laser-targeted … pull this book out and get the answers you need in the moment!
I will be sharing different parts of From 360 Deal to Work-For-Hire Clause: 15 Music Business Terms to Know on Steemit as education for musicians in the coming month – my promo videos are educational, because this is a subject that is forever of importance to musicians. Meanwhile, the book itself comes out on October 15 on Amazon Kindle, and will be packed with info and special price offers for The Freedom Guide book and The Ultimate Guide to Copyright Songs course.
A note of thanks: without Steemit, I probably would not have gotten used to the idea of massive written production – From 360 Deal to Work-For-Hire Clause: 15 Music Business Terms to Know is book 4, really, because all the folks at watched me write book 3 right here on Steemit … more about that fine fiction next week, as it too makes it to Amazon Kindle! So, thank you, Steemit and Steemians, for helping to make all of this greatness possible!
Coming on Amazon, October 15, 2019...
