Somehow, it got to be March 1st.
That actually makes me happy, as I think about it — mostly because the days are getting longer and that means I actually have a bit of daylight on both sides of the hours I spend at work.
That's a positive both because I simply enjoy daylight, and also because it functionally makes me able to do things outside (and things that require daylight — like certain photography) after I get off work.
The Inspiration for Today's Title
Bright evening sky...
The sad truth is that I lost or misplaced my little wad of paper slips on which I scratch down numerous ideas for writing, and I think I had some fairly good ideas.
Unfortunately, I have the short term memory of a rusty sieve, so I don't really remember what I wrote down while I was waiting for the coffee to brew, this morning.
Instead, I went off and looked at my incoming feed here on Steemit. Although I can honestly say that the diversity is greater than ever, I would also have to say that the overall quality of content seems to be getting "thinner." Hard to put my finger on... but it feels more and more like a reflection of many people who used to be here to "create content and earn rewards" have stopped (or grown weary of?) paying attention to the content and are now here just to "earn rewards" by putting "something" up as posts.
I Don't Really Blame Them...
The sad thing is that I can't exactly say that I blame anyone for doing that. With each day that passes, it feels more and more like simply posting decent quality content and interacting with others is... not enough.
Bird on a log...
I found myself looking at several posts that seemed to have gained impressive results in a fairly short time... and then realized that if I removed the "upvote bot" rewards from the equation, many of them were actually earning less than a dollar and had two "human" comments. Or less.
$70.00 worth of paid upvotes; 80 cents worth of organic upvotes. I can't remember the last time I had a post voted up to $70.00. That's not the point, though... I can't help but worry that simply publishing content and engaging is no longer enough. Not because I don't care about quality anymore, but because every $70 "artificially inflated" post that comes to market makes my own "organically created" post worth a few cents less.
But those are "dem breaks," I guess!
How about YOU? What are YOU writing about, today? Where is your inspiration coming from? How do you come up with things to write about on days when your creativity level seems low? How is the quality of content in your feed, these days? Are you using any of the alternative Steemit front ends: Zappl, SteepShot, Dtube and others? How is that going for you? If you have been here for a while, do your rewards seem to be slowly eroding? Leave a comment-- share your experiences-- be part of the conversation!
