Salamina is an island with a history, rich in flora and fauna, sparsely populated, with vast expanse of trees and beautiful beaches. Unfortunately, in September 17, when a small tanker was sunk, large amounts of tar and oil were drenching the area and the disaster was great. I visited the island before this and I will show you all that I have seen.
Salamina is located in the Saronic Gulf and is 10 minutes from Perama's Piraeus.
GEORGIOS KARAISKAKIS
In Salamina there is the tomb of Karaiskakis, a great fighter of the Greek Revolution of 1821. (1782-1827). Karaiskakis was a sons-in-law, and that name called him. Chieftain of the Greek Revolution of 1821. Ηe loved Salamina so much that his desire was to be buried there. His tomb is in the capital of Salamina, Koulouri, in the temple of St. Dimitrios. The Greek expression "my soul went to the koulouri", which means that something terrified me a lot, has prevailed over this fact.

NAVAL BATTLE SALAMINE
Monument Of The Battle Of Salamina
At September 22, 480 e.g. the Greeks neutralized the army of the Persians and Xerxes, hunting them in the Saronic Gulf. The strategic position of Salamis was known by the important political Themistocles, who first broke up with the Spartan general Adeimanto, and said the historical phrase “pataxon men ,akouson de” (ancient Greek) , it means “hits but first heard me”.
The area was preserved protected, historically and not only, protected as a wetland but unfortunately has become a cemetery of ships.
