Friedrich Nietzsche as Writer
Being a talent in poetry and music it is no surprise he wrote a book related to Music. His first book in 1872 was called "Die Geburt der Tragödie aus dem Geiste der Musik / The Birth of Tragedy from the Spirit of Music)" marked his emancipation from classical scholarship. It was a dramatic theory and argued that Greek tragedy arose out of the fusion of Apollonian and Dionysian elements—the first representing measure, restraint, and harmony and the second representing unbridled passion. Friedrich also speculated that the Socratic rationalism and optimism meant he death of Greek tragedy. The book has created intense debates as well as heated controversy around classical scholarship and remains a classic in the history of aesthetics to this day.
