This picture doesn't look like much, but it's so important to me.
Once upon a time (September last year), I planned a road trip/tour across Western Canada in order to attend this event, where one of my dearest friends made his vows as a monk. (!?Yes, I know.)
It was one of the most beautiful days of my life, for so many small, precious, sacred reasons I can't articulate here.
There was no fanfare. It was just at the regular 6:30am morning mass, with a few brief minutes dedicated to him. After driving the 20+ hours to get to the area, I drove from where I was staying an hour away in pouring British Columbia rain in the complete dark, windshield wipers going full steam the whole way there.
Sometimes you just know you need to be somewhere--that it's important for reasons you don't understand. This was one of those things.
Fight for these beautiful moments & listen to those little, sometimes outlandish nudges.
Sometimes do something just so driven by love and beautiful craziness, because these are the things that keep the heart going and that add up to an incredible, beautiful existence. These beautiful moments are irreplaceable & the very substance of life.
Xx, Kay
