One great thing about the communities on Steemit is growing so close to one another you're actually willing to travel to meet your companions.
In my ''Finding Steemit'' post I had mentioned I was in a Steem.chat group called the Danger Zone. Well, back in February the idea of having a meet-up popped up. The date was set to be the weekend of May the 18th to 20th and the location: Tallinn, Estonia. (How convenient!)
Some of us had to take a ferry to get here, some came by bus... there was even one person to come by plane! I, on the other hand, live here, so... I got off easy this time.
Mixed Feelings
The whole idea of the meet-up brought up some mixed feelings inside me. It was a mix of excitement, anxiety, happiness and worry. One day I had this weird butterflies-in-my-stomach feeling inside me (not the ''I'm gonna throw up'' kind of butterfly feeling, just excitement, believe me!), the other I felt like bailing out on the whole thing, as I was afraid I would end up being silent and awkward for most of the time.
Well, when the first day finally arrived, I actually felt really chill.
It wasn't as bad as I was afraid it would be...
Size Matters (?)
As usually happens when it comes to group gatherings, there were more people rising their hand and saying ''I'll come!'' in the beginning than there were those who had actually showed up in the end.
Some of us were more enthusiastic about the whole meet-up thing; some, again, less enthusiastic... some really wanted to come but had other things come up instead, some decided to stay in their comfort zone and watch the Royal Wedding in their PJs instead (okay, I'm kidding, I don't know if anyone actually did that).
Anyway... whatever the reason, it's alright, we understand, perhaps there will be a ''next time'' when the others will join in, too.
In the end there were 8(+1) of us on the meet-up in total... and even though the weather wasn't as warm as a week ago - boy-oh-boy, was it fun!
