Why write...?
Many answers could be given to that question. Yet here, we’ll consider one:
Because people are reading.
And they’re paying attention.
That’s right. Someone is trading a fraction of their life to take in the words we have to offer, for whatever reason(s).
So, what shall we deliver them in exchange...?
Another dosage of dime-a-dozen opinions and information that doesn’t really do all that much to enrich their experience? Or offer a gift, which upon opening, may transform the way they view the world, themselves, and shift consciousness to upgrade to a version of themselves they’ve been continually striving for, though may have needed the keys within our words to unlock...?
Why write...?
Because it’s an opportunity to serve.
Perhaps to pay forward priceless lessons, upon which implementing, they may shave time off their learning curve.
Perhaps to entertain, to put smiles on faces, to bring deep laughter to bellies, and to warm hearts.
Perhaps to inspire. To uplift spirits. To touch and move souls.
We could approach writing as a half-hearted pastime, doing it for the rewards, some praise, or the personal satisfaction of creative expression.
And we could also approach it as a sacred duty.
As a means of passing on insight which unlocks the genetic codes to activate higher potentials within readers.
As a vehicle for casting spells of good fortune and blessings through the transmission of wisdom which transforms minds upon encounter.
As an act of love, planting our words as the seeds of a legacy that shall live beyond us through the roots grown in the psyches of those we’ve touched, and in the fruits beared through the impact their influence has nourished.
Why write...?
Because it might just make a difference.
Large or small.
In ways we may never know, yet send ripples of the love fuelling it outward to change the world for the better.
In way we might never predict, yet be left in awe if we were to realize just how profoundly our gift of service has altered the course of others’ lives - just as ours have been altered by the words of our greatest teachers and mentors.
Because as we have had our lives magically transformed through the insight and information others had passed onto us through their writings, so too may we have such an effect on others through our words.
And maybe the impact never will be huge and dramatic.
Yet, who knows what small shift may lead to down the line - what small seeds we plant may sprout into year later, when all our words have been long forgotten.
Why write...?
Of course, these are only a few of many reasons. None any more right or wrong than the others.
Though, may we embrace this invitation to try these reasons on for yourself and see how they fit.
May we embrace the opportunity within each post/story/article written to offer a gift of immeasurable value to those paying their limited attention to reading.
May we serve through our actions of imparting words, which are to somehow better the lives of those whose eyeballs they graze, whose minds our ideas infuse with fresh perspectives and possibilities.
Or some shit.
Maybe we can just all make it up as we go, not giving such a huge fuck, and do it for the simple joy of the play...
