They don’t. How do people with flu get inspired again in life? They don’t. Flu is not about getting inspired. Neither is major depression.
For me it is very similar to flu - when symptoms are gone, I’m back to normal life.
Common sense simple remedies such as going out, getting sex or delicious food, alcohol or other stimulants such as coffee or marijuana don’t work for me. And they are scientifically known either to not work at all or have a very minor effect on depression. And alcohol is actually known to have the opposite effect.
So my solution in general is not to seek inspiration, but be calm and simply wait for the episode to be gone. I sort of understand that bad thoughts are not mine so I’m able to distant myself from them.
The only things that can be done about depression besides being patient is to get professional treatment. Both antidepressant drugs and talk therapy are known to work. But they both work very slowly and indirectly. So a therapist is not going to inspire you in general. My understanding of the proces is that he will teach you to think differently, and with time different thinking patterns help to change chemical balance in the brain so the symptoms are gone.
