Hello Steemit Friends,
If you're a chronic procrastinator, you probably understand the cycle of putting things off, delaying, hiding from work, and slacking. It is an easy way to get stuck from progressing in life. Most of the time you don't even realize you're doing it! When you knowingly assume the position of an avoider, you create a bunch load of reasons why you should delay the specific task at hand – its sometimes postponed indefinitely. Identifying the avoidance tactics is your first step to winning this battle. You can also make some lifestyle changes by following these strategies to avoid future procrastination.
Breaking down your responsibilities
The main reason we find ourselves procrastinating is when we subconsciously find the work we have to do overwhelming. If this is the case, you can easily avoid it by breaking it down into little parts that can be achieved separately. Try to focus with one section at a time. If you, later on, find yourself procrastinating after this, break it down even further. As soon as you have achieved one manageable task at a time, it will be simple enough for you to do it whenever! Don't try to think about what you haven't yet achieved, try as much as possible to complete the little tasks you have at hand.
Change of environment
It's obvious that the environment that you're in has a significant impact on your productivity. Look at your room and your work desk? Your room always brings a snuggly vibe while your work desk makes you want to work like a slave. The environment can always give you inspiration to work more and do more. Revamp your workspace and environment to provide you with the motivation of finishing your tasks.
Work buddy
Having a working companion is the best way to make an unbearable situation easier. In this case, your buddy should have the same ambitions as you. You can hold each one accountable for your set plans and goals. It is not always necessary that you each have the same goals. It will ensure that you both spur motivation on the other party.
Tune out digital distractions
Digital distractions are a procrastinators dream come true! As much as you may love checking up on your friends on social media or checking some funny cat videos on YouTube, these distractions take a whole lot of your time. To focus, you need the freedom over addiction of social media. Develop self control that will help you in doing the right thing at the right time.
Be realistic
When you want to get rid of your procrastinating habit, establish a schedule that can assist you in finishing up all your tasks. This will set you up for success. If you have any projects around the corner, keep some extra time off since it may take a whole lot of time. Your schedule should be set up on a realistic basis. Don't set up something that is too overboard.
Don't beat yourself up
Most times we punish ourselves by getting more stressed if we procrastinate. This makes your work even harder. If you never had the time to work on that project or finish that assignment, look on the brighter side. Focus on what you have to do instead. Regret and guilt are draining emotions that will leave you tired and frustrated. Wasting your time beating yourself up will only make it worse.
Start out with the harder tasks
In the morning, you are usually well rested and the most energized. Pick out the hardest task to complete, you will get a better feel once this is completed. This will help you to transition smoothly into the rest of the smaller tasks throughout your day.
Just do it!
If you are looking forward to stopping procrastinating, it all boils down to you making a stance to take some action. You can plan, strategize and hypothesize all you want but without effort, everything is futile. Occasionally most people complain about their situations, but at the end of the day, they just forgot to take action. Nobody ever procrastinated their way to success. It is a one-way road, you either get a grip and do it or nothing will ever change.
Don't wait for the perfect time to do something because now is probably not the best time. Ditch the perfect time reasoning! There is never a perfect time. Just do it!
I hope you enjoy This post !!
