Eh! Ye showed up three-- what, four days ago, with yer cawing and fuss. Has ye started to think mebbe you got the wrong house? I see you've brought a friend this time. Both of ye, begone!
No, O crow, I know why you dance in the limbs over my room, I know now! A pair of crows has business with me for two reasons: one, they've showed up to escort me to the next world, or two: they bring me a message, and since I ain't dyin', a deciphering of their urgent calling is due. Say it again, O crow, what have ye to tell me?
I could borrow the vision of the crow, for a moment, or for good-- they know I'm in here, they know which rafter to point their beaks at, to rattle my skull as I fidget with the camera. How about a picture, ye rascal? I've got a zoom lens on this baby, smile! Now where have they gone?
There, a moment of peace. Who but the crow would show up to scream at a dying man, to make his last moments noisier, and less peaceful? Rude! Nah, the crows are here because they see what I see, and they tell me that truly I am not dying, but like the crow, I've found a perch where I can see inside of my own house, and see the squirming life within, a place I'd hardly looked before. There I am! What is it I'm doin in there? O crow, it must be important, for you to help me look upon it, what are ye seeing that got you squawking so?
Here's what I see, it's the reason you cry above the window, O crow, it's that I've envisioned something else now, for once, I can see a better way, and you know I won't be coming with you now. That's it! Where are you going now, ye scamp!
Thought I was ready to move into the next fractal already? O crow, now you know, it ain't time to go. Not for me, not yet. There! I see very well-- like you-- what I'm up to now, and why my eyesight is suddenly crisp, like yours. I have seen through the dusty windows from an angle that was wholly new, and there I was sweeping the floor and pulling down cobwebs, and what is this? Window cleaner. Now we will see won't we, O crow?
Is that my house? It looks so forgotten from up here. Now, O crow, I see what yer seeing, and I think I see what yer saying: "You in there! How many years of pollen and dust have clouded your view? That's right, you missed a spot, but now you see! See that clump of feathers that absorbs every ray of light in the branches above? The better to see you with, now, as you clean your windows, finally, you wash that residue away."
I love that crow, always something to say, something to see.
thanks for reading along, all crow pics by me, and all musing is fictional here today, inspired by the antics and folklore of the crows
