Movies are fucking violent. People are just as so. We’re creatures of influence whether it be repeating funny lines we hear, or letting songs get stuck in our head from a single listen. It’s impossible to think that the arts don’t affect us, and influence the patterns of our behavior. So with all the violent games and shows and songs and movies, can one really not make a correlation between violence seen with violence committed? As a child of the Goldeneye era, who has played first person shooters my whole life, I can say proudly, I’ve never shot up a crowded area. But is that just luck or coincidence or a matter of time?
Are we more attuned to violence than before this type of media, or can it be the cautionary tale that the artists intend for it to be?
