The World Is A Dangerous Place. No one can argue with this.
In a few days' time, we Chinese will welcome the new year in, but what we hear is not all good news.
Yesterday afternoon, in Joy City Shopping Mall at Xidan, a downtown area in Beijing, a 35 35-year-old man stabbed over 10 random people in the mall, causing 1 death and 13 injured. Also yester day, a van had a major accident in Hubei Province, killing a dozen people. When I surfed the internet, I read that a plane crashed in Russia. When I checked wechat, a Chinese version of WhatsApp, a friend posted that there was an exposion only 3 kilometers away from her home. A few days back, a Chinese citizen was killed in Karachi, Pakistan. In Taiwan province of China, an earthquake took away lives of tourists.
As we can see, danger is everywhere to be found and the victims are all innocent. Even when people stay at home, tragedies occure. It seems that tragedies are almost inevitable, but we can do something to reduce the chance of happening. First of all, we must always be risk-minede, aware that risks are practically everywhere and we must make precautions in case they happen. Secondly, learn some life-saving skills, they might be helpful in some circumstances. Thirdly, we must do more good deeds and pray for the safety of innocent good people, ourselves included.
A friend commented that it's safe to stay indoors. What she said makes some sense. But there is a whole world for us to explore ant make adventures. We can't just stay in one place. However, wherever we go and whatever we do, always remember that safety comes first, before danger befalls, do something to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
Wish everybody safe and sound.
