"Run!"
That was the last thing I heard. The sky, the earth, the air, everything became tense and in an instant we were covered by a great darkness.
I saw how Delia was decapitated right in front of me, right before my eyes, by that being of sombre character. Her blood flowed and spread on the pavement of the square leaving a very gloomy scene in that place. I was afraid, for the first time I could feel the sweat draining off my forehead and my muscles tightened, my mentor had been murdered, leaving a body divided from what it had been before.
My mind vanished, I fell to the ground losing each of my senses, I wanted to run but it was already late, I thought of my immeasurable death as that demon approached me, I memorized his figure, remembering forever and always who took the most precious away from me.
Liberari
"What exactly were they doing there?
The officer seemed completely disturbed by my story, perhaps for him it was impossible to believe such an aberration, but for me it had constituted something completely real. Only 48 hours later the police had found my body in a high state of dehydration within the vicinity of the old mansion. Had it been a dream? No, Delia was found decapitated by the officers in the same place, that thing really existed.
"We'll be back tomorrow, Mr. Marshall..."
The doors of the hospital room closed and again I was alone in the room, my body was sore and there were some shallow wounds in my abdomen. I thought of Delia, of her smile and her audacity in seeking adventure, what would have happened if we hadn't entered that place? Would she still be alive? Anyway, now I was dead and I couldn't stop crying at the news.
"er... gillum..... rari..."
I opened my eyes quickly, look around me, where did those words come from? I was alone in the room, at what moment had I fallen asleep? Anyway, the clock on the wall was 3:00 am.
"pe.... segi.... liber..."
The sound was heard closer and closer, coming from the outer corridor to the room, accompanied by a somewhat creepy metallic sound. That sensation of panic returned to my body and I could feel the tension in the environment, had it come for me? Impossible, according to the writings of that mansion that thing was confined to an eternity in that place.
"Who is there?" I shouted, no one answered.
The metallic noise became closer and closer, colder and sharper. The pressure grew and I was unable to move out of bed, I felt too weak for it.
"per sigillum liberari..."
The voice began to become much stronger, although the language was primitive, it seemed to be Latin.. Showing itself before my ears in a low and acoustic tone. Repeating the same phrase over and over again. I couldn't stay there, I had to get up anyway.
I squeezed the railing hard and made several attempts, in vain, to get out of bed. My body felt very tired and heavy, the pain in my abdomen was stabbing, the memories of Delia's death returned to my head and I felt that fear grow, I felt that creature lurking, waiting to destroy my body as it'd already destroyed that of my beloved Delia.. I wasn't afraid of death, I wasn't afraid to meet her, but if that was going to happen tonight,I wouldn't leave without at least fighting, without at least trying to take revenge on that paranormal demon..
"liberari..." A shadow passed right through the door and I could clearly hear the deep voice bouncing through the room.
My body went into tension as a natural reaction to fear, I tried to concentrate, I tried to remember the focus exercises we did in the various auric and metaphysical conferences. Whatever was there couldn't wrap me up with its energy.
I approached the door and watched the doorknob for a long time. I waited with my arm stretched out trying to decide what to do, the shadow continued on the other side, motionless, taciturn. I had to do something.
"Why did you kill her?" That was all I could say.
The lights went out, I heard many footsteps running away from the door, knocking what they found in their way and disappearing like a passing sound, when the lights came back a second later, I opened the door and looked into the corridor. Nothing. Whatever was there, it was already gone..
I took a deep breath and slowly returned to bed. I felt a sudden relief at not finding anything, I was not psychologically prepared to face that demon one more time. Maybe I had to sleep. I took the sheets, arranged the pillow and closed my eyes by dropping myself on the bed.
«¡PER SIGILLUM LIBERARI!»
The lights flashed, a roar overturned the bed, I opened my eyes and my body froze completely from fear. In the room, on the ceiling of those white walls, a smiling creature was watching me: empty bowls, a bony body and a thirst for palpable blood was present. I could no longer contemplate the dream once more. Delia was waiting for me in the doorway.
