I took my boy Bumpy to the vet the other day. He was feeling down, not at all his usual perky labrador self. I knew something was wrong and immediately took him to the Veterinarian. The vet's diagnoses were grim but hopeful, "Parvovirus," might as well have been a foreign language, for I'd never heard of it. It turns out it's quite fatal if left untreated. The vet then went on to give me his best estimate as to the treatment cost, "without guarantee of success" he added. My boy could still succumb to this dreaded disease. $950 to $1200 is the cost of treatment for Parvovirus without any "guarantee of success," is a daunting thought indeed. But this is my boy Bumpy he was standing there talking about as if he were already dead. I'm going to cling to this little bit of hope I have and pay the $1200 because after having Bumpy in my life; I just can't imagine life without him. I had to leave him there for a few days for observation. The vet informed me that he took medicine well. Because I caught it early, there is a strong chance he will come home where he belongs, healthy and reunited amongst his family. Don't let this happen to your family pet, act before it's too late and vaccinate.
