You probably thought you've seen every type of street art from graffiti work of Basquiat to the stencil work of Banksy. Well, let me introduce you to perhaps one of the most time-consuming street art styles ever created: Yarnbombing.
Yarnbombing involves the wrapping of various public items and spaces with colorful yarn coverings. So far yarnbombers have covered lines of trees in various rainbow patterns.
Yarnbombing was created by Magda Sayeg from Houston, Texas when she decided to wrap a doorknob in 2005. Since, then the movement has spread around the world.
Today, there are organized yarnbombing groups who have been known to pop up anywhere.
So, don't be surprised if you wander off in the middle of the desert and come across the work of another intrepid yarnbomber.
