Good afternoon, Steemians!
About a week ago, I read that drinking coffee might not be a good idea due to its acidification of the body when ingested. I get heartburn and acid reflux as well a lot of times after drinking my morning espresso. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but I've been thinking about repealing and replacing for a while now ;-).
I had a silicone mate about a year ago, but my wife chucked it because it was "gross." I actually spent $14 on that thing, so I was angry. Well, I just bought a little kit because I remember that I loved when I used to drink mate. I bought a kit from Amanda (an Argentinian brand) and it just came in the mail today.
It comes with a mate (the cup like thing), some mate tea leaves (500 grams) and the bombilla. This is the metal straw you use with a good filter.
Why mate? (Mah-tay)
Well, mate kills colon cancer cells, stimulates the immune system, has vitamins A, C, E, B1, B2, Niacin, B5, and B Complex as well as calcium, manganese, iron, selenium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, and zinc. It also has fatty acids, carotene, flavonoid, polyphenols, inositol, 15 amino acids, is extremely high in antioxidants, has trace minerals (among other things.) it reduces cholesterol levels, and finally it promotes a healthy weight. It's thought to attack and fight cancer cells.
Another good thing is that you can reuse the same leaves up to 10 times. I used to just clean the mate out every night and make a new 'batch?' every day in the morning.
