Laying there, for what must have already been 10 minutes or so, he found himself in the most profound state of awareness; eyes closed, post-asana breath restored to a shallow, relaxed rhythm; released from the foregoing pre-requisite of systematic pranayama; body resting in silent tranquility.
An unstoppable unifying of all conceivable energies was now in motion; ONENESS!
This event marks a significant milstone in the life of a yogi; a juncture through which dedication to the 8 fold path of yoga, is realised through Samadhi, resulting in the most euphoric, meaningful, gracious and humbling of experiences.
In fact, of all the amazing places you could ever go to, of all the awesome sights you could ever see, of all the experiences you could ever have and of all the lovers you could ever love, laying there, like a lone corpse on the floor, could well have them all beat. A wordless conversation with the Divine needs no dressing up.
Any such experience is almost impossible to wholly and accurately explain, communicate and put into context. The meaning; so often completly lost within the mechanical limitations of words. Even the most accurate of accounts and descriptions, both overcomplicate and underwhelm in equal measure.
However, such experiences, whilst not directly translatable to the discriminating mind, cultivate a deeper awareness; bearing new perspectives that enable more meaningful and effective interactions within the realm of the 5 senses.
The requirements of the systems of the world we find ourselves within, mean that resistance to the pull of embracing the limitations of communication through the 5 senses are often futile and materially counter-productive.
However, there will always be those who tinker within the confines of definition; meticulously probing and stretching the structural boundaries through inventive utilisation of words, sounds, images and movement; through which an endeavouring to prize open the doorway to a deeper conversation is well under way.
An artist’s insatiable appetite for creation - the poetry, music, art and dance, crafted as painstaking labours of love, are scattered like spiritual breadcrumbs; signposting navigation through Samsara’s cycle of death and rebirth, perhaps finally leading the way to Nirvana.
Soul nourishing practices enable more meaningful exchanges in life. These routines of ritual; where time and space are prioritised for the dedication to the offering of all, with no expectation of reward, often gift bountiful fruition for the development of awareness and communicative abilities. These experiences provide an opportunity to identify, acknoweldge and familiarise with the true voice, when it presents itself, allowing an understanding of not only what the message is, but how best to embrace it and share it with others.
Whether sharing your unique message through yoga, art, music, writing or the myriad of other creative mediums, the selfless offering of gratitude within each practice, brings into one’s own life, direction, purpose and contentment.
