YouTube stars are leaving YouTube in droves and that is good news for Steemit.com.
The latest YouTube star to leave YouTube is Philip DeFranco.
Haven't heard of him?
Check out his channel here:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClFSU9_bUb4Rc6OYfTt5SPw
He currently has a channel on YouTube where he hosts "The Philip DeFranco Show". His videos routinely get millions of views and he is regarded as one of the most popular YouTube personalities out there.
Apparently that is all about to change...
DeFranco has been upset for some time about the way YouTube keeps changing their monetization practices. In particular, DeFranco is upset over the recent changes revolving around the use of "colorful langue" and controversial topics.
DeFranco is known for using quite a bit of "colorful langue" in his videos and pretty much every topic that he covers is controversial. He believes that YouTube demonitizing videos for their use of langue or anything else they feel is not "advertiser friendly" is a major form of censorship...
What is that you say?
People are leaving YouTube because they feel they are being censored?!
That is where Steemit.com comes in...
Currently Steemit.com is completely censorship free. DeFranco is free to cover any topic he wants and use whatever language or colorful metaphors he fancies and Steemit.com will never penalize him for it.
There are no advertisers that Steemit.com is trying to please. You are free to say what you want and how you want to say it.
YouTube is facing a major problem because it is trying to appeal to advertisers in that they are demonitizing anything that they feel is not "advertiser friendly".
This in turn is driving many of it's content creators away...
Where do they go from here?
Unfortunately for us, Philip DeFranco already has another video hosting platform he is planning on going to, his own.
That's right, Philip DeFranco will be launching his own independent media channel, "DeFranco Elite". The new platform is being funded through patreon with support from his fans.
However, just because Steemit.com can't snag Philip DeFranco, doesn't mean it can't snag a few of the many many others that YouTube is currently running off. We as a community will be ready to welcome them with open arms when they eventually find their way here.
Regarding Philip DeFranco, why don't you reconsider and give Steemit.com a try? Who knows, you might like it and stay awhile. :)
