YouTube over the past couple years has been an amazing platform with an abundance of content. It allowed for individuals to become grand celebrities and it promoted creativity and ideas from every corner of the planet. Eventually it replaced the role of cable for many viewers. It has News Chanel's, comedy shows, music, tutorials, gaming, and much more. However, recently big companies have pulled their advertisements from YouTube fearing their comercials may appear on offensive videos. Therefore, content creators pay has dramatically decreased. In addition, glitches dealing with subscriber count, views, and comments have made it harder for smaller channels to grow. This low quality service could be caused by the fact that YouTube hasn't really had any major competitors in the past. However, with the introduction of Steem, content creators may be better off on this platform due to the fact that more money is available. Steem is even more attractive to smaller content creators because at the moment there is less competition on Steem in comparison to YouTube. Moreover, Steem is still in development phase and is already having an impact. As Steem continues to improve it becomes more of a threat to YouTube as well as other mainstream social media platforms.
