The name Gandaria comes from the epidermis and the reddish-purple seed (gandaria). In Java and Sumatra, fruit trees are still widely found. The hallmark of this fruit is its leafy leaves and commonly used as a protective tree.
The young Gandaria fruit is green, and turns yellowish when it is almost ripe. The texture of the meat is thick, crunchy and juicy.
This fruit has a sour taste, even when it is ripe though. Usually this fruit bears fruit in March-June.
