Sometimes it's a bit difficult to think about how I am or how I project myself to others but I guess you have to try, right? So... I'm going to start: When I was 8 years old my mom had a spider for a pet. Weird, very weird. And you might think it was a small spider but, the truth is, it was almost as big as the fist of a 44 year old adult's hand (my mom). Big and nimble enough to weave a web in the middle of two lemon trees in my backyard. I know in advance that the question goes through your mind: "Why the hell did your mom have that pet?" And believe me when I tell you that I asked her that question. My ma' just told me that if the critter had come into her life, she was not one to keep it away and, she named it "Raiza". The spider was so wary of her space that being afraid of her was inevitable for me. Strange, lonely and with a home of her own she would wander around my yard. Perhaps I was envious of her and not afraid of her, many times that can be confusing. Maybe Raiza was so strange that not understanding her made me fear her and seeing my mother do it intrigued me a lot. What they say that by naming something or someone, affection is born as a bond is very true. The day Raiza left my mother regretted it. Her leaving was the theme for several weeks, so much so that I grew up with that memory vivid in my mind. Books, books, books, books and more books. I love to read and I think I always have. I read everything from the encyclopedia of dinosaur bones to romance books about protagonists with morally questionable attitudes. I consider this passion as a quest for knowledge to learn and as the coolest hobby in the world. I mean, it's so cool that a book can take you back in time as a situation you've never heard of in this world. How non-existent beings that have such a methodical and exact elaboration leave you speechless and longing to see life the same way. Or, even, how you are presented with facts and situations of daily life that are vulnerable and that allow you to know beyond what you surround yourself with. Reading has shown me that the best thing in this world is unlimited imagination. From reading was born my passion for writing. I tend to write about what I see, hear and think, from the most common situations to what is morally ignored by society. Of course I don't write like Jane Austen or Isabel Allende, (yes, my references are women) but I enjoy it and every day I try to learn more as I go along because, sincerely, I hope one day to dedicate myself to the publishing world. Another hobby I have and enjoy is music. I like all kinds of music. I listen to a wide variety of music from classical to country, as well as Latin genres. Although, honestly, I prefer to stick to the comfort genres that make me feel completely at ease such as pop. The reason why I enjoy this so much is because since I was very young I practiced instruments in an orchestra, in fact: I am a violinist, so I feel that I have a special connection with this art. I really appreciate the beauty of music. How it conveys and connects us emotionally with life situations. It, like books, transports us through wonderful worlds of past times, and tells stories where the imagination takes flight. I also enjoy watching series and movies. The seventh art has become a space of warmth and avant-garde for my life. I love mystery/psychological thriller series that blow your mind. Where they use "deception deception" to connect with the audience and confuse them. I greatly admire the work of a good script a good director of any production. And, of course, I love musicals. I enjoy the fact of singing and dancing while watching my favorite film of all time: "mamma mia". I know that my best company is me; however, it never hurts to hang out with friends who make me feel loved and comfortable. In that sense, I value friendship more than anything else. I tend to be selective with whom I give my trust but, when that step is done, my affection gradually becomes genuine. Sharing, learning and valuing are my bases for those relationships, which are few indeed. I have had friends for years that I appreciate so much that sometimes I don't know how to express my love, you know? These are the kind of relationships that are already family by choice and conviction. Likewise, I have made friendships of very short time with whom I feel that the relationship is as comfortable as if they had always been by my side. Therefore, I think I could easily sing a song from My Little Pony about the magic of friendship, because I don't know what I would be without my friends. They are the ones who encourage me, listen to me, and advise me (if I want to listen to them). A veces es un poco difícil pensar en como soy o cómo me proyecto a los demás pero supongo que hay que intentarlo, ¿no? Así que... voy a comenzar: Cuando tenía 8 años mi mamá tuvo de mascota una araña. Raro, muy raro. Y tal vez pensaran que era una araña pequeña pero, lo cierto es que era casi tan grande como el puño de la mano de una adulta de 44 años (mi madre). Lo suficiente grande y hábil para tejerse una telaraña en medio de dos árboles de limón en el patio de mi casa. Sé de antemano que por su mente pasa la pregunta de : "¿Por qué demonios tu mamá tenía esa mascota?" Y créanme cuando les digo que yo le hice esa pregunta. Mi ma' solo me dijo que si el animalito había llegado a su vida, ella no era quien para alejarlo y, la nombró "Raiza". La araña era tan recelosa con su espacio que tenerle miedo fue inevitable para mí. Extraña, solitaria y con una casa construida por si misma ella se paseaba por mi patio. Quizás le tenía envidia y no miedo, muchas veces eso se puede confundir. Quizás Raiza era tan rara que el no comprenderla me hacía temerle y el ver que mi madre lo hacía me intrigaba mucho. Lo que dicen de que al nombrar a algo o alguien el cariño nace como vínculo es muy cierto. El día que Raiza se fue mi madre lo lamento. Su ida fue el tema por varias semanas, tanto así que crecí con ese recuerdo vívido en mi mente. Libros, libros, libros y más libros. Me encanta leer y creo que siempre ha sido así. Leo de todo, desde la enciclopedia de huesos de dinosaurios hasta libros de romance de protagonistas con actitudes moralmente cuestionables. Considero está pasión como una búsqueda de conocimiento por aprender y como el pasatiempo más genial del mundo. Quiero decir, es tan genial que un libro te puede llevar a viajar al pasado como situación de los nunca has escuchado de este mundo. Cómo seres inexistentes que tienen una elaboración tan metódica y exacta te dejan sin palabras y con la añoranza de querer ver la vida igual. O, incluso, el cómo se te presentan hechos y situaciones de la vida diaria que son vulnerables y eso te permite conocer más allá de lo que tú te rodeas. La lectura me ha demostrado que lo mejor de este mundo es la imaginación ilimitada. De la lectura nació mi pasión por inminente por escritura. Suelo escribir sobre lo veo, escucho y pienso, pasando desde la situaciones más comunes hasta lo que moralmente la sociedad ignora. Por supuesto que no escribo como Jane Austen o Isabel Allende, (sí, mis referentes son mujeres) pero lo disfruto y cada día busco aprender más sobre la marcha porque, sinceramente, espero algún día dedicarme al mundo editorial. Otra aficiones que tengo y disfruto son la música. Me gusta todo tipo de música. De hecho, escucho música muy variada, suele escuchar desde la música clásica hasta la country, al igual que géneros latinos. Aunque, sinceramente, prefiero quedarme en los géneros confort que me hacen sentir completamente bien como el caso del pop. La razón por la que disfruto tanto esto es porque desde muy pequeña practiqué instrumentos dentro de una orquesta, de hecho: soy violinista, entonces siento que tengo una conexión especial con las con este arte. Apreció demasiado la belleza de la música. El cómo nos transmite y conecta emocionalmente con situaciones de la vida. Está, al igual que los libros, nos transporta por mundos maravillosos de épocas pasadas, y nos relata historias donde la imaginación se pone a volar. Asimismo, disfruto demasiado es ver series y películas. El séptimo arte se ha convertido en un espacio de calidez y vanguardia para mí vida. Me encantan las series de misterio/thriller psicológico que te vuelan la cabeza. Dónde utilizan el "engaño desengaño" para conectar con el público y confundirlo. Admiro mucho el trabajo de un buen guión un buen director de cualquier producción. Y, por supuesto, amo los musicales. Disfruto del hecho de antar y bailar mientras veo mi film favorito de todos los tiempos: "mamma mía". Sé que mi mejor compañía soy yo; sin embargo, nunca está de más pasar el rato con amigos que me hacen sentir querida y cómoda. En ese sentido, valoro la amistad más que a nada. Suelo ser selectiva con quienes les doy mi confianza pero, cuando ese paso está hecho, mi cariño se vuelve genuino paulatinamente. Compartir, aprender y valorar son mis bases para esas relaciones, las cuales son pocas realmente. He tenido amigas por años que aprecio tanto que a veces no sé cómo expresar mi amor, ¿saben? De ese tipo de relaciones que ya son familia por decisión y convicción. Asimismo, he hecho amistades de muy poco tiempo con quienes siento que la relación es tan cómoda como si siempre hubieran estado a mi lado. Por lo tanto, creo que fácilmente podría cantar una canción de My Little Pony sobre la magia de la amistad, porque no se que sería sin mis amigos. Ellos son quienes me alientan, me escuchan, y me aconsejan (si es que quiero escucharlos). Yo intento mantenerme cuerda entre ser una universitaria chill de la comunicación social y que día a día práctica la escritura como pasión y ambición. Bueno, fue divertido escribir esto. Espero que me haya ido bien intentando romper la tercera pared y que disfrutaran de la lectura. Nos leemos pronto, tal vez con una anécdota graciosa de la vida, o un cuento oscuro sobre salud mental.
