Desde el Caney de las Mercedes, un pueblo de la serranía de la provincia Granma, mis padres en busca del desarrollo nos llevaron a mi hermano y a mí para Bayamo, la capital de la provincia. De Bayamo a la Habana vine yo, casi recién graduado de la Universidad de Oriente en Santiago de Cuba. Acá vivo hace más de 25 años, ahora tengo 48 así que más de la mitad de la vida ya la llevo por estos lares.

**Para relajar…** El deporte, prefiero el futbol. Lo practiqué un tiempo, durante la juventud, cuando las hazañas de Diego A. Maradona. Tuve mi camiseta con un 10 pintado por mí, lo que marcó mi preferencia por el equipo argentino. En esa época viví una temporada en el pueblo de mi Abuelo Bertico, Santa Rita, donde se jugaba mucho béisbol, pero de futbol nada, nulo, así que…como dice el dicho, en tierras de ciegos el tuerto es rey. A parte de eso siempre le voy al equipo que tiene las de perder, creo que de ahí nació mi simpatía por el equipo Barcelona, cuando me acerqué a los clubes, el real Madrid lo estaba masacrando. Me gusta bailar, tirar un pasillo, sobre todo de casino por la dinámica del baile, el vínculo con la pareja en las “vueltas”, así que en las fiestas soy el tipo que nunca encuentras sentado. Mi esposa no siempre me sigue la rima, pues ella es más de música electrónica, no obstante como bien me conoce después de tantos años juntos, no pone reparos cuando invito a alguien más a bailar.

**To relax...** Sports, I prefer soccer. I practiced it for a while, during my youth when Diego A. Maradona's exploits. I had my jersey with a 10 painted by me, which marked my preference for the Argentine team. At that time I lived for a while in my Grandfather Bertico's town, Santa Rita, where they played a lot of baseballs, but no soccer at all, so...as the saying goes, in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king. Apart from that I always go to the team that has to lose, I think that's where my sympathy for the Barcelona team was born, when I approached the clubs, Real Madrid was slaughtering it. I like to dance, throw ¨a pasillo¨, especially in a ¨casino¨(Cuban salsa) because of the dynamics of the dance, the link with the partner in the "turns", so at parties, I'm the guy you never find sitting down. My wife does not always follow my rhyme, because she is more into electronic music, however as she knows me well after so many years together, she does not object when I invite someone else to dance.

**Sobre mi profesión** Soy Arquitecto, y me desempeño en una Empresa de Proyectos como Especialista Superior. Me gusta mi profesión y ¨si volviera a nacer¨, como dicen, volvería a intentarlo. Cuando empecé a estudiarla no tenía muy claro su alcance y muy facilistamente me disponía a vivir de hacer lo que mucho me gustaba: dibujar. Pensaba que era terminar la carrera y, no más estudios y a trabajar. Nada más distante de la realidad. La Arquitectura y sus “otras personalidades” me han mantenido de una forma u otra sobre el estudio y la investigación.
La ejecución de edificaciones, la construcción, no escapa a las dificultades que tiene el país. Materiales y tecnologías tienen muchas limitaciones. A pesar de eso he podido participar en algunos Proyectos que se han materializado. Obras y Proyectos que en algunos casos han logrado el reconocimiento profesional en concursos nacionales y alguno que otro internacional.
Participar recientemente en la proyección y ejecución, como proyectista general de una obra de gran magnitud, me ha permitido descubrir un potencial muy interesante en los escenarios que se generan en el proceso constructivo. Así, que como ya comentaba, es un continuo aprendizaje. Mi mejor Obra, mi hija, a la que también le gustaba dibujar y ahora cursa sus estudios universitarios de Diseño Industrial con su propia versión de seguir mis pasos.

**About my profession...** I am an Architect, and I work in a Projects Company as a Senior Specialist. I like my profession and "if I were born again", as they say, I would try it the same way. When I started to study it, I was not very clear about its scope, and very easily I was ready to make a living doing what I liked: drawing. I thought that I would finish my degree and, do no more studies and go to work. Nothing more distant from reality. Architecture and its "other personalities" have kept me in one way or another in my study and research.
The execution of building, and construction, does not escape the difficulties that the country has. Materials and technologies have many limitations. Despite that, I have been able to participate in some projects that have materialized. Works and projects that in some cases have achieved professional recognition in national and some international competitions.
To participate recently in the projection and execution, as a general designer of a work of great magnitude, has allowed me to discover a very interesting potential in the scenarios that are generated in the construction process. So, as I said, it is a continuous learning process.

**El diseño…** El dominio de algunas herramientas digitales de diseño y modelación 3D, me sirve para estudiar, visualizar una idea pero meter las manos, tirar algunos trazos, hacer un croquis y luego lograr la transformación del material es paradisíaco. Gran oportunidad ha resultado involucrarme en el diseño de muebles para el puro Habano, fundamentalmente estuches y humidores. Estos muebles con características específicas para la conservación del tabaco resultan de la mezcla de un poco de historia, tradición y muy buenos carpinteros ebanistas que juntos intentamos estar a la altura de la pasión que despierta el mejor tabaco del mundo. Aquí aporto el diseño y recién me estoy adiestrando en usar las herramientas y técnicas en el trabajo con la madera.

**Design...** The mastery of some digital design tools and 3D modeling helps me to study, and visualize an idea but to put my hands, throw some strokes, make a sketch and then achieve the transformation of the material is paradisiacal. It's been a great opportunity to get involved in the design of furniture for cigars, mainly cases, and humidors. These pieces of furniture with specific characteristics for the preservation of tobacco are the result of the mixture of a bit of history, tradition, and very good carpenters and cabinetmakers who together try to live up to the passion aroused by the best tobacco in the world. **La fotografía…** La fotografía…esa tiene un lugar particular. Es una de esas personalidades que diría asume la Arquitectura. No he tenido formación técnica en el tema, pero sobre la base de los conocimientos de composición que la arquitectura me ha aportado, intento atrapar los acontecimientos y los escenarios con sus luces y sus sombras.

**Photography...** Photography... that has a particular place. It is one of those personalities that I would say assume is Architecture. I have had no technical training in the field, but based on the knowledge of composition that architecture has given me, I try to capture the events and scenarios with their lights and shadows.

**Las formas…**
Me formé como arquitecto pero creo que me he ido convirtiendo en un admirador de las formas y como se relacionan, y no solo como un espectador. Me motiva, apasiona, llegar a ellas (las formas), generarlas: componer, seccionar y unir yo mismo. Papel y lápiz, cartón, madera, metal, piedra, hormigón, para lograr una pieza que quizás lleve de decorativo, de utilitario o simbólico. …con cierta ausencia de herramientas y muchas veces con la mesa del comedor como taller.
…y todo me sirve, partiendo de que el diseño es un reflejo condicionado. Dice mi esposa que tengo el complejo de Diógenes, y ya casi la convenzo de que es normal, pero entonces llegan mis viejos de visita, y tengo que andar tras ellos: *“eso no me lo vayas a botar que con eso voy a hacer un porta-algo,…ni eso tampoco me lo botes que me sirve para...”*

**The forms...**
I was formed as an architect but I think I have been becoming an admirer of forms and how they relate, and not just as a spectator. I am motivated, and passionate, to reach them (the forms), to generate them: to compose, section, and join them myself. Paper and pencil, cardboard, wood, metal, stone, concrete, to achieve a piece that may be decorative, utilitarian, or symbolic. ... with a certain absence of tools and many times with the dining room table as a workshop.
...and everything works for me, starting from the fact that design is a conditioned reflection. My wife says that I have a Diogenes complex, and I almost convince her that it's normal, but then my parents come to visit, I have to go after them: *"don't throw that away, I'm going to make a (something), and don't throw that away either, it's useful for...".*

**En Hive…**
De la mano de mi esposa @janetedita me atrevo a introducirme en este mundo 3.0. Resulta interesante la diversidad, profundidad y visión personalizada de los contenidos, espero lograr nutrirme de ellos y a la vez aportar lo que desde mi humilde arsenal pueda a este universo de Hive.
