Basic Information:

Mahō Tsukai no Yome is a Japenese Anime written by Kore Yamazaki. It belongs to the genres Fantasy, Mystery and love but is assigned to the demographic Shōnen. The Anime is based on the Manga, which was already published in 2013. Approximately three years later the first of the three OVA's was broadcasted under the Name "Mahō Tsukai no Yome: Hoshi Matsu Hito" or maybe also known as "The Ancient Magus Bride: Those Awaiting a Star". The first run of the Aime series was however just published on October the 7th in 2017 on MBS. Until now there are 12 episodes out of the announced 24 online. The following 13th episode will be on air on the 7th of January this year.(｡╯︵╰｡)

Mahō Tsukai no Yome is ein japanischer Anime geschrieben von Kore Yamazaki. Dieser wird den Genre Fantasy, Mystery und Liebesroman zugeordnet, fällt dabei jedoch trotzdem in die Kategorie Shōnen. Der Anime basiert auf dem Jahre zuvor bereits veröffentlichten Manga (2013). Knappe drei Jahre später erschien auch schon der Erste von drei OVA's unter dem Namen "Mahō Tsukai no Yome: Hoshi Matsu Hito" oder auch "The Ancient Magus Bride: Those Awaiting a Star". Die Erstausstrahlung der Anime Fernsehserie erfolgte erst am 7. Oktober 2017 auf MBS. Bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt sind bereits 12 der angekündigten 24 Epsioden, mit englischen Untertiteln, ausgestrahlt. Für die 13te Epsiode muss man sich leider noch etwas gedulden, da diese erst am 7ten Januar im Netz ist.(｡╯︵╰｡)

Short summary:

This Anime is basically about magic and sorcery. Thereby the two terms don't mean the same thing. While mages are using magic with the aid of fairies, sorcery is seen as a science for manipulating the world. Both main characters are using magic. Chise Hatori, a 15 year old girl, which sells herself voluntarily at an auction, is bought by Elias Ainsworth, a weird creature with a skull of an animal instead of a head. This is the beginning of their adventures on which both of them get closer. Already in the first episode Elias reveals the fact, that he would like to marry Chise. Whether this will happen or not, we will have to wait!

Kurze Zusammenfassung:

Allgemein geht es in diesem Anime sehr viel um Magie und Zauberei. Dabei werden beide Begriffe jedoch voneinander unterschieden. Während sich Magier der Magie mit Hilfe von Feen bedienen, wird die Zauberei als eine Art Wissenschaft zur Manipulation der Welt dargestellt. Die beiden Hauptcharaktere selbst bedienen sich der Magie. Chise Hatori, ein 15 jähriges Mädchen, welches sich freiwillig bei einer Auktion als Sklavin versteigern lässt, wird von Elias Ainsworth, einem Wesen mit einem Totenschädel eines Tieres anstelle eines Kopfes, gekauft. Dies ist der Beginn ihrer Abenteuer bei denen sich beide nach und nach immer näher kommen und besser kennenlernen. Bereits in der ersten Folge gibt der Hauptcharakter Elias Ainsworth bekannt, dass er Chise vor hat zur Frau zu nehmen. Ob dieses Vorhaben umgesetzt wird oder nicht ist noch unbekannt!

Characters:

Chise Hatori: A red-headed 15 year old girl, which is bought by a magicien at an auction. Based on her traumatic past her character is dispalyed as very quiet and resigned. Her own live doesn't matter for Chise and she often wonders why she was even born. Little by little the writer reveals something about her parents, who she lost at an early age. Right in the first episode Chise is called a "Sleigh Beggy". Only later we get to know the meaning: a human being with special magic power, who because of that is doomed to die at a younger age. It depends on how good they can control their magic energy. At the moment Chise herself has only about three year to live.

Charaktere:

Chise Hatori: Ein rothaariges 15 jähriges Mädchen, welches bei einer Auktion von einem Magier gekauft wird. Auf Grund ihrer traumatischen Vergangenheit, wird ihr Charakter als sehr ruhig und gleichgültig dargestellt. Ihr eigenes Leben ist ihr nicht wichtig und sie fragt sich des öfteren, warum sie überhaupt geboren wurde. Im Verlaufe des Animes erfährt man bruchstückweise etwas von ihren Eltern, welche sie in jungen Jahren veloren hat. Gleich in der ersten Folge wird sie als eine "Slay Vega" bezeichnet. Erst später erfährt man was dies zu bedeuten hat: ein Mensch mit besonderer magischer Kraft, welche dadurch dazu neigen früher zu sterben, je nachdem wie sie ihre magische Kraft kontrollieren können. Im Moment hat Chise nur noch ungefähr drei Jahre zu leben.

Elias Ainsworth:

A creature with a mans body and a skull as a head. He is also known as the Thorn Sorcerer and among the sorcerers as "Pilum Muralis". He has a quiet but self-confident personality. In the beginning you know very little about him but his history will be revealed too. His Master Lindenbaum, for example, tells Chise about Elias past. Elias himself claims to not have human feelings and also not to undestand them at all. But with Chise by his side he makes quite a change. Also because he somewhere inside wants to save her life.

Elias Ainsworth:

Eine Kreatur mit dem Körper eines Mannes und dem Kopf eines Totenschädels. Er ist auch allgemein als Dornenmagier bekannt und unter den Zauberern als "Pilum Muralis". Eine ebenfalls ziemlich ruhige jedoch selbstbewusste Persönlichkeit. Anfangs weiß man ziemlich wenig über ihn. Doch auch seine Geschichte wir im Laufe des Animes enthüllt. Zum Beispiel von seinem Meister Lindenbaum, welcher Chise von Elias Vergangenheit berichtet. Elias behauptet von sich selbst, absolut keine menschlichen Gefühle hegen zu können und diese auch nicht zu verstehen doch mit Chise an seiner Seite erfährt er eine gewisse Veränderung. Auch weil er ihr Leben retten will.

Lindenbaum:

Also known as Lindel. He is the Master of Ainsworth and lives in the Land of Dragons. His character is more indulgent and cheerful. For him, Chise and Elias, are like his own kids.

Lindenbaum:

Auch bekannt als Lindel. Ist der Meister von Ainsworth und lebt im Land der Drachen. Sein Charakter ist eher gutmütig und fröhlich. Für ihn sind Chise und Elias schon beinahe so etwas, wie seine eigenen Kinder.

Ruth:

This chracter appears a little later. A black grim also known by the name Ulysse. He will be Chises familiar and both will share a mental link between each other. From this moment he will not leave Chise alone.

Ruth:

Dieser Charakter kommt erst etwas später in Erscheinung. Ein schwarzer Grim auch bekannt unter dem Namen Ulysse. Er wird zu Chises Vertrautem und beide teilen eine mentale Verbindung miteinander. Von diesem Zeitpunkt an verlässt er Chise für keinen Augenblick.

My opinion:

Unfortunately I don't really know were to start because this is my first review ever and I don't even know if I am doing it right but I will try. Let's start with the whole story. It is, by itself, a continuing story but consists out of many little adventures. The audience gets to know the world and the characters a little more with every adventure. But these aren't always realted to each other. So an adventure is over and in the next three episodes another one starts with doesn't have to do anything with the one before for example. When I first started to watch this Anime I was a bit confused and didn't understand a thing. Also in the following episodes I didn't really get the point. The whole Anime seemed to be incomprehensible and truhfully a bit boring. I have to mention I never watched the OVA's before or read the Manga. It took a few epsiodes until something more exciting happened. So everyone who is into the whole action, lot of blood and fight thing wont really love this Anime, I think... Nevertheless, the story turns out to be really romantic, deep and in some way interesting. The fact with the indirect proposal at the beginning doesn't get out of your head. You want to know what happens with the two main cahracters. Are they gonna end up as a married couple or nor? (Maybe something more for the girls;)) On the opposite side you can even find some creepy and horrible parts which actually contain blood. But they aren't shown that often or long. Yet this is not an horror or thriller anime so that's ok. Some scences are a real feast for the eye! A lot of wonderful bright colours! The characters themselves are beautifully painted! Also the (background-)music is aligned appropriate to the scenary. The music literally touches your heart! Especially Lindel's song. The sweet melody is still in my brain!(≧◡≦) ♡

Meine Meinung:

Ich weiß leider nicht genau, wie und wo ich anfangen soll, da dies mein allererster Review überhaupt ist, aber ich versuche es einfach mal! Fangen wir bei der gesamten Geschichte an. Die Story an sich ist zwar fortlaufend jedoch besteht sie aus mehreren kleinen Geschichten bzw. Abenteuern. Man erfährt so gesehen in jedem der einzelnen Abenteuer etwas über die Welt und die Charaktere selber. Zusammenhängend sind die einzelnen Abenteuer allerdings nicht immer. Als ich anfing den Anime zu schauen war ich etwas verwirrt und habe absolut nichts verstanden. Auch in den darauf folgenden Folgen konnte ich keine wirklichen Schlüsse ziehen. Der ganze Anime schien für mich unverständlich und auch ehrlich gesagt ein bisschen langweilig. Hier muss ich vielleicht dazu sagen, dass ich weder die OVA's noch die Mangas gelesen/gesehen habe. Es dauerte ein paar wenige Folgen bis endlich etwas aufregenderes geschah. Also, wer auf totale Action mit viel Blut und Kämpfen steht ist bei diesem Anime eindeutig fehl am Platz. Allerdings entpuppt sich die gesamte Story als ziemlich romantisch, tiefgründig und doch in gewisser Weise interessant. Die Tatsache, dass in der erste Folge bereits ein inoffizieller Antrag gemacht wurde schleppt sich fort bis in die letzte Folge. Man will unbedingt wissen was aus dem Vorhaben geworden ist. Und selbst jetzt lässt es mir keine Ruhe was aus den beiden Hauptcharakteren wird. Sieht man mal von der romantischen Seite weg, entdeckt man auch einige etwas gruseligere Stellen bei denen auch tatsächlich Blut fließt. Diese sind jedoch meist von nicht langer Dauer. Was allerdings auch nicht schlimm ist, da dieser Anime weniger auf Horror oder Thriller ausgelegt ist. Manche Szenen sind auch eine echte Augenweide, mit vielen bunten und hellen Farben! Die Charaktere selbst sind wundervoll gezeichnet. Auch die (Hintergrund-)Musik ist passend auf die Situation abgestimmt, so dass die Musik Wort wörtlich das Herz berührt. Insbesondere das Lied von Lindel! Die süße Melodie schwirrt mir immernoch manchmal im Kopf herum (≧◡≦) ♡

Overall it is a very beautiful and well-made Anime. Also a nice alternation to the common once. The once that are into romantic, beautiful, unsual and thoughtful Animes I can only recommend to give Mahō Tsukai no Yome a try! I can't wait to finally see the next episode!

Im Großen und Ganzen ein wirklich schöner und gelungener Anime. Auch eine gute Abwechslung zu den üblichen. Wer mehr auch romantische, schöne, ungewöhnliche und nachdenkliche Sachen steht für den kann ich diesen Anime nur empfehlen. Kann es kaum erwarten die nächste Folge endlich zu sehen ;)
