Currently, the famous "Medalla de Oro" custard has made a comeback. It's a custard that reminds me a lot of ones found in my country, Venezuela, but known as flan. It has several uses that some may not know about, but here in Colombia, it's mostly seen during the Christmas season. For this recipe, I used two types of liquid milk, since one is packaged and the other is delivered directly to the house by the milkman. Following the package instructions, this custard requires only 1 liter of liquid milk. I bring the milk to a boil briefly before adding the contents of the box, and then begin mixing. >***Siguiendo las mismas instrucciones de su paquete, esta natilla necesita la cantidad de 1 litro de leche líquida solamente. The box shows you what to do to prepare it. Here you can see what's needed, and one of the recommendations to make it even better is to add a little cinnamon, as it intensifies the flavor and gives it a distinct aroma. This step is entirely optional. I decided to add another 100 ml of milk, which makes it go a little further and lightens the flavor slightly. This type of dessert needs to be made by beating it very well. Although it may seem like I'm being very insistent, you really should consider that it gets very lumpy. Even though I was with my son at times, I had to beat it frequently so that the dessert wouldn't burn. You can choose any mold you like, pour the mixture into it, refrigerate it for a couple of hours, and that's it—your custard is ready! Remember, you can use any mold; it holds its shape very well. I used a glass dish, which I mostly use for everything I bake. I find it the easiest to cut and serve. >***Pueden elegir un molde de su preferencia, en este viertes la mezcla y la lleva al refrigerador y lo mantienes allí un par de horas y listo, tienes tu Natilla lista. Recuerda que puedes usar cualquier molde, este toma muy bien las formas.
