"Fear is the path to the dark side."

Last Wednesday I had a BIG philosophical and theological discussion with some friends, the kind where arguments were thrown from one side to the other like chairs. hahaha It lasted more then 8h, talking about existentialism, purpose, ethics, theoretical physics, string theory, simulation theory, the meaning of God and why we should care for all of it.

"So what?" — You must be thinking...

I'd think the same, I actually wasn't even planning on writing this today, I am finalizing a three part post about the book The Law of Frédéric Bastiat, were I summarize, review and comment it, but something clicked in my head mid-weekend and I HAD TO write it down (that's how my mind works, if I don't write it down I become haunted by the thought, I just HAVE TO write).

What made me write this:

One of the men I were discussing with, the one that was most feverishly atheist, the one who said nothing could change his mind, that "if God existed, he would hate him more then anything" and uttering pearls like "if you've had any kind of intuition, vision or inexplicable experience you MUST the psychotic. There's drugs for that, ya know?", he had a very clearly negatively charged energy to him. By the little he talked about himself I was able to guess that he probably had someone close to him slowly die of cancer or something of the like and that triggered all this revolt on him.

Most would just leave it at that, but my name is K-00110001 and I can't sleep if something close to me is not right. That's where this article is from, long sleepless nights. So, OK, I did my part, I said my piece and tried to comfort him and explain from what I knew, the best way I could, that revolt wasn't the answer and that there were other ways to interpret what he had lived through, but one can only help those that first WANT to be helped. Free will takes precedence. Anyways...

This morning he sent a text in our group chat venting about what's been happening to him and, as it turns out, both his mother and stepfather took the covid vaccine about two weeks ago and just two days later were diagnosed positive, being admitted to the hospital shortly after.

His revolt is that they both not only took the experimental vaccine against his pleas but also are simply refusing to get any early treatment, they are LITERALLY just waiting to die. He says that their excuse for it is that "they saw it on TV", ignoring all the examples we see off-screen of people being saved by many forms of early treatment.

Giving up is not an answer to anything.

The Good In You

After that whole situation (and much thinking) I tripped over "coincidentally" a REALLY good Youtube video, that really nailed the topic. It was a Star Wars video that summarized Anakin Skywalker's story, his rise, his fall and his redemption. And being Star Wars a story deeply rooted in Buddhism and Taoism, most of its messages are true gold nuggets of wisdom, specially Master Yoda's sayings.

"Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."

These words really encompass the feeling of fear of loss. But fear is truly the path to depression, resentment, hate, insensibility. Life IS suffering, we must accept it so we can move on and live, love and grow. Because it's only through moral development and maturity that we are truly able to be free. I won't extent myself in the ethical/theological arguments about it, specially because this post is already too long.

To finally conclude, that video (and the whole situation before) inspired me to write a poem about our struggle to remain good even when our whole world is crumbling around us. In the whole sense of the word, the good is a vow.

Na quarta-feira passada, tive uma GRANDE discussão filosófica e teológica com alguns amigos, do tipo em que as discussões eram jogadas de um lado para o outro como cadeiras. hahaha Durou mais de 8h, falando sobre existencialismo, propósito, ética, física teórica, teoria das cordas, teoria da simulação, o significado de Deus e por que devemos cuidar de tudo isso.

"E daí?" — Você deve estar pensando...

Eu pensaria o mesmo, na verdade nem planejava escrever isso hoje, estou finalizando um post de três partes sobre o livro A Lei de Frédéric Bastiat, onde resumi, revisei e comentei, mas algo me deu um clique na cabeça no meio do fim de semana e eu TIVE que escrever (é assim que minha mente funciona, se eu não escrever eu fico assombrado pelo pensamento, eu simplesmente TENHO que escrever).

O que me fez escrever isso:

Um dos homens com quem eu estava discutindo, aquele que era o mais febrilmente ateu, aquele que nada que eu dissesse poderia o fazer mudar de ideia, aquele que disse "se Deus existisse, eu o odiaria mais do que qualquer coisa" e proferindo outras pérolas como "se você teve qualquer tipo de intuição, visão ou experiência inexplicável, você DEVE ser psicótico. Existem remédios para isso, sabe?", ele tinha uma energia claramente negativamente carregada. Pelo pouco que ele falou sobre si mesmo, fui capaz de adivinhar que provavelmente alguém próximo a ele morreu lentamente de câncer ou algo parecido e isso desencadeou toda essa revolta nele.

A maioria simplesmente deixaria por isso mesmo, mas meu nome é K-00110001 e eu não consigo dormir se algo perto de mim estiver errado. É daí que vem este artigo, de longas noites sem dormir. Então, tudo bem, eu fiz minha parte, falei o que deveria e tentei confortá-lo e explicar pelo que eu sabia, da melhor forma que pude, que revolta não era a resposta e que havia outras formas de interpretar o que ele estava passando, mas só podemos ajudar aqueles que primeiro QUEREM ser ajudados. O livre arbítrio toma precedência. De qualquer forma...

Esta manhã, ele enviou uma mensagem em nosso grupo de bate-papo desabafando sobre o que está acontecendo com ele e, ao que parece, sua mãe e seu padrasto tomaram a vacina do covid há cerca de duas semanas e apenas dois dias depois, diagnosticados positivo, sendo admitidos no hospital poucos dias depois.

Sua revolta é que os dois não só tomaram a vacina experimental contra as suas súplicas, mas também estão simplesmente se recusando a receber qualquer tratamento precoce, eles estão LITERALMENTE apenas esperando para morrer. Ele diz que a desculpa deles para isso é que "eles viram na TV", ignorando todos os exemplos que vemos fora da tela de pessoas sendo salvas por várias formas de tratamento precoce.

Desistir não é resposta para nada.

O bem em você

Depois de toda aquela situação (e muito pensar) eu tropecei "coincidentemente" em um vídeo MUITO bom do Youtube, que realmente acertou em cheio nesse assunto. Foi um vídeo de Star Wars que resumiu a história de Anakin Skywalker, sua ascensão, sua queda e sua redenção. E sendo Star Wars uma história profundamente enraizada no budismo e no taoísmo, a maioria de suas mensagens são verdadeiras pepitas de ouro de sabedoria, especialmente as palavras do Mestre Yoda.

Essas palavras realmente abrangem o sentimento do medo da perda. Mas o medo é, na verdade, o caminho para a depressão, ressentimento, ódio, insensibilidade. A vida É sofrimento. Devemos aceitar isso para que possamos seguir em frente e viver, amar e crescer. Porque é somente por meio do desenvolvimento moral e da maturidade que podemos realmente ser livres. Não vou me estender nos argumentos éticos/teológicos a respeito, até porque este post já está muito longo.

Para concluir, aquele vídeo (e toda a situação anterior) me inspirou a escrever um poema sobre nossa luta para permanecermos bons, mesmo quando nosso mundo inteiro está desmoronando ao nosso redor. Em todo o sentido da palavra, o bem é um juramento.
