Your mom has just told you that she is pregnant. You will have one of two reactions, You will either be very happy and excited, because you have always wanted a brother or sister or you are not going to feel very happy, because you like being the only child or the way your family is now.

The first changes you will notice is with your mom. A baby does not come over night, it takes 9 months before he/she is born and during this time you will see certain changes in your mom.

This is also a good time where you can be more understanding and help her if she asks you (or even if she does not ask). If she tells you that she is too tired to do something with or for you, accept it. It is not because she loves you less, it is just because of the toll the new baby is taking on her body.

By the time she is about 4 months pregnant you will see that her belly and breast are getting bigger and she will also eat more, but will not be sick any more. The closer your mom gets to being pregnant for 9 months, the bigger her belly will get and she will start moving slower and get tired more quickly. She can even have trouble putting on her own shoes, so this is a good time where you can start practicing to be a good 'big brother/sister' and carry things for her and help her with stuff she struggles to do.
