That scenario is something that has been thought about and discussed for at least 50 years. It is the subject of a marvelous short story by Asimov called The Last Question: Humans are generally linear

Haven't done much research on that group @johano, but it appears at first glance that this is one of many new age / universalist belief systems. I'll have to do some more homework to assess their influence.
