Fieldfare is very rare in North America, and one has been seen recently in British Columbia, about a 7 hour drive from where I live. I have so far resisted the urge to chase it, but it would be nice.

Hairy Woodpeckers vary in their color considerably, with the more eastern birds being a lot whiter and the more western birds being more beige in the light areas. I can be quite a dramatic difference.

On a trip to Kenya Cisticolas were without question the most difficult to identify visually of the species seen. Thankfully they all sing like crazy.

From a birder's point of view having a quality phone birding field guide is a basic everyday tool that every serious and beginning birder has to have. As field guides to the Sibley guides are simply superb.

I visited Giverny a couple of years ago, and have to agree is is a magically wonderful place, and it's easy to see why Monet loved painting there.
