I must confess that I have loved the platform, I have felt at home and I enjoy reading them; your stories, recipes and adventures accompany my days; I tell you that my absence is due to those minutes of life where the day to day changes completely, those moments when we feel fragile and for a moment our reality is complicated. Since April 27th of this year we received the bitter news of an abnormal pneumonic pattern located in the right pulmonary base of my father-in-law Manuel Hernandez. This event marked a before and after in our lives, the pneumonic pattern compatible with Sars Cov-2, led us to make very hard decisions, because he is a high risk person and we had to admit him to the Luis Razetti University Hospital in Barcelona, where we also served as undergraduate interns as medical students. Visiting a hospital in Venezuela is not easy at all, it is a stressful situation with many deficiencies in infrastructure, medical equipment and medical treatments in general. I have to admit that the first day I felt a sense of panic and the desire to run away, because Covid-19 is nothing to be taken lightly; with more than a year of pandemic I had never been closer to reality, fortunately these are circumstances that force us to adapt and strengthen our spirit when we manage to overcome them.

Debo confesar que me ha encantado la plataforma, me he sentido en familia y me entretiene leerlos; sus historias, recetas y aventuras acompañan mis días; les cuento que mi ausencia se debe a esos minutos de la vida donde el día a día cambia por completo, esos momentos en el que nos sentimos frágiles y que por un instante nuestra realidad se complica. Desde el pasado 27 de abril del presente año en familia recibimos la amarga noticia de un patrón neumónico anormal localizado en la base pulmonar derecha de mi suegro Manuel Hernández. Este acontecimiento marcó un antes y un después en nuestras vidas, el patrón neumónico compatible con Sars Cov-2, nos llevó a tomar decisiones muy duras, debido a que él es una persona de alto riesgo y nos tocó internarlo en el Hospital Universitario Luis Razetti de Barcelona; lugar donde también nos desempeñamos como internos de pregrado al ser estudiante de medicina. Visitar un hospital en Venezuela no es nada fácil, es una situación estresante de muchas carencias en infraestructura, material médico-descartable y tratamientos médicos en general. Tengo que admitir que el primer día sentí esa sensación de pánico y ganas de salir corriendo, pues el Covid-19 no es nada que debe ser tomado a la ligera; con más de un año de pandemia nunca me había tocado estar más cerca de la realidad, afortunadamente estás son circunstancias que nos obligan a adaptarnos y nos fortalecen el espíritu cuando se logran vencerlas.

Personally this situation of illness gave a 180 degree turn to my life, it is a situation where important things are postponed to attend to the urgent; as you know I am not anzoatiguense, this generates that I have important commitments to settle monthly residence, food and school expenses, which are generally my concerns. For this both my girlfriend and I have at least 4 enterprises, our way of doing things and fighting for our dreams is the attitude that keeps us afloat, even in a Venezuela with a deep economic crisis. However, due to an illness we had to stop working in order to take care of Mr. Manuel, who today is still struggling to overcome this inclement disease that has changed our lives so much. The medical expenses do not stop arriving and being diabetic the same treatment alters his glycemia, generating at least 6 to 7 daily controls, being in a hospital in Venezuela is not easy and much less for the companions, who have to sleep where it falls, often causing illness for them, also what few know is that in tropical climates Kn95 respirators can cause injuries to the ears, as unfortunately happened to me.

Personalmente está situación de enfermedad dio un giro de 180 grados a mi vida, es una situación donde se postergan las cosas importantes para atender por lo urgente; como saben no soy anzoatiguense, esto genera que tenga compromisos importante que saldar mensualmente residencia, alimentos y gastos de clases, que son generalmente mis preocupaciones. Para ello tanto mi novia como yo tenemos al menos 4 emprendimientos, nuestra manera de hacer las cosas y de luchar por nuestros sueños es la actitud que nos mantiene a flote, aún en una Venezuela con una profunda crisis económica. Ahora bien, ante una situación de enfermedad nos tocó dejar de trabajar para poder cuidar al señor Manuel, que hoy en día sigue luchando por superar esta enfermedad inclemente que tanto nos ha cambiado la vida. Los gastos médicos no dejan de llegar y siendo diabético el mismo tratamiento altera su glicemia, generando al menos de 6 a 7 controles diarios, estar en un hospital en Venezuela no es fácil y mucho menos para los acompañantes, quienes les toca dormir donde caiga, ocasionando muchas veces enfermedad para ellos, también los que pocos saben es que en climas tropicales los respiradores Kn95 pueden ocasionar lesiones en las orejas, como desafortunadamente me sucedió a mí.

Being sick with Covid-19 is a pathological process that not only affects the patient, it is a disease that affects the family and forces them to reinvent themselves. I think that these almost two years of pandemic, we have had some stressful situations because of this pathology, which has stalled our dreams and shows us how fragile human life is when it feels threatened; now the circumstances and opportunities are different for each patient, especially with the Venezuelan health system that is unable to provide everything necessary for the recovery of the sick person. Soon I will take you through every moment that has marked me during the life of this disease, I will talk about the mistakes that are common when dealing with it, I will give you the most important tips to fight with Covid and not let the fear of suffering keep us away from a timely recovery. Estar enfermo de Covid-19 es un proceso patológico que no sólo afecta al enfermo, es una enfermedad que afecta a la familia y las obliga a reinventarse. Pienso que estos ya casi dos años de pandemia, hemos tenido alguna situación estresante por esta patología, que ha estancado nuestros sueños y nos muestra lo frágil que es la vida humana cuando se siente amenazada; ahora bien las circunstancias y oportunidades son diferentes para cada enfermo, sobre todo con el sistema de salud venezolano que es incapaz de suministrar todo lo necesario para la recuperación de la persona enferma. Próximamente los llevaré por cada momento que me ha marcado durante la vigencia de esta enfermedad, les hablaré de los errores que son frecuentes cuando se está lidiando con la misma, les daré los consejos más importante para luchar con el Covid y no dejar que el miedo de estar padeciendo nos aleje de una recuperación oportuna. En este post quisiera escucharlos y que me comentaran ustedes ¿Cuál ha sido el momento que más los ha marcado en casi dos años de pandemia?
