Right! I think I got this one now. We need a column name on the left and a value on the right. If these criteria are not filled you must put FILTER inside of CALCULATE.

As always Paula this is a great resource, when I started out on powerpivot I always got that 'Relationships may be needed' warning and could never figure it out because it would not let me set up the links.

I started using Powerpivot when it was introduced as an ad in way back in 2010. I am surprised that not more people have been using it. One thing I struggle with, and you will probably get to it later
