Hi folks, it's been a while, I hope you're well, this week I bring you my version of Torhilo the Frozen, one of my favorite Splinterlands cards, for [this week's](https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@splinterlands/splinterlands-art-contest-week-126-15-booster-pack-prize) drawing contest. I fell in love with this card as soon as I saw him use his ability Last Stand and kill all his enemies by himself, unfortunately I haven't been able to use this ability on my own, I don't have the card at the right level, neither the summoners and even if I had them I play in a league that doesn't allow me to use it, so I settled for giving him life with my art, I hope I did well. >Hola gente, ha pasado un tiempo, espero que estén bien, esta semana les traigo mi versión de Torhilo the Frozen, una de mis cartas favoritas de Splinterlands, para el concurso de dibujo de [esta semana](https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@splinterlands/splinterlands-art-contest-week-126-15-booster-pack-prize). ># >Yo me enamoré de esta carta apenas la vi utilizar su habilidad Last Stand y acabar con todos sus enemigos él solo, desgraciadamente no he podido usar esa habilidad por mi propia cuenta, no tengo la carta en el nivel adecuado, tampoco los invocadores y aun si los tuviera juego en una liga que no me permite usarla, así que me conformé con darle vida con mi arte, espero haberle hecho justicia.

I did sketch in pencil, at that moment I was particularly inspired, the idea was Torhilo charging with the image of the Last Stand ability in the background as an aura. >Este boceto lo hice a lápiz,en ese momento estaba particularmente inspirada, la idea era Torhilo cargando con la imagen de la habilidad de Last Stand en el fondo como una aura.

I discarded the idea of representing the skill explicitly and decided to concentrate on Torhilo, I made the lines with the linework layer and made the pertinent corrections, so gave it a colored background to facilitate the coloring process and I had a artist block for months. 😭 >Deseché la idea de representar la habilidad de forma explícita y decidí concentrarme en Torhilo, hice las líneas con la capa de linework e hice las correcciones pertinentes, le di un fondo de color para facilitar el proceso de coloreado y tuve un bloquedo que duró meses. 😭

This was the hardest phase, I spent months coloring, erasing and re-coloring, I saw hundreds of pictures of ice sculptures and material studies, I tried to replicate them, but none of them ended up pleasing me, in the end I decided to use a style similar to the original drawing. As you can see, I also tried to use the colors of the original drawing, as I usually do for all my versions of the Splinterlands cards, however, the values were too light for my taste, so I opted for a more "natural" distribution of the values, using dark tones for where the shadows go and light blues where the light reaches. >Esta fue la fase más dura, pasé meses coloreando, borrando y re coloreando, vi cientos de fotos de esculturas de hielo y estudios de materiales, e intenté replicarlas, pero ninguno me terminó agradando, al final decidí basarme más en la ilustración original. ># >Como pueden ver, también traté de usar los colores del dibujo original, como suelo hacer para todas mis versiones de las cartas de Splinterlands, sin embargo, los valores eran demasiados claros para mi gusto, así que opté por una distribución más "natural" de los valores, usando tonos oscuros para donde van las sombras y azules claros donde la luz alcanza.

Then, I painted the frost, the highlights and shadows of the line and the general shadows of the body, for the highlights and frost I used the shine layer mode at different opacity levels and for the shadows the multiply layer mode. >Luego pinté la escarcha, las luces y sombras de la línea y las sombras generales del cuerpo, para las luces y la escarcha usé el modo de capa shine en diferentes niveles de opacidad y para las sombras el modo de capa de multiply.

Now that the bull is ready I go with the background, I would say that if this were another drawing😉, to represent his strength and weight I gave myself the task of making a super stomp starting from the crack, but before that I changed the background color to one that was closer to my idea of the final background. >Ahora que el toro está listo voy con el fondo, o eso diría si este fuera otro dibujo😉, para representar su fuerza y peso me di la tarea de hacer un súper pisotón empezando por la grieta, pero antes cambié el color del fondo a uno que estaba mas cerca de mi idea del fondo final.

I made a dust cloud and I broke the ground, but it was still not enough power, so I doubled the dust cloud and put it in shine layer mode and I made an illuminated explosive shock wave with the same technique, to give it that final touch I made small pieces of earth fly from the epicenter of the impact. >Hice una nube de polvo y tierra levantada, pero aun no era suficiente power, así que dupliqué la nube de polvo la puse en modo de capa shine e hice una onda de choque explosivo iluminada con la misma técnica, para darle ese toque final hice que volaran del epicentro del impacto pequeños trozos de tierra.

I already had the explosion, but something important was missing, This is Torhilo the FROZEN, and if I wanted coherence with his title I had to make him details that reflected his icy nature, so, I made a frost mist and little ice pieces that came off his body when he walked, for that, I used the same technique of the dust cloud, only that the duplicated layer was Shade and Shine and I added dark details to highlight the shadows, then I made small ice dots and I concentrated them in the impact to make it look more convincing and I added others that him leaves behind as a trail. >Ya tenía la explosión, pero faltaba algo importante, este es Torhilo the FROZEN, y si quería coherencia con su título tenía que hacerle detalles que reflejaran su gélida naturaleza, entonces, hice una bruma de escarcha y trozos de hielo que se desprendieran de su cuerpo al andar, para eso usé la misma técnica de la nube de polvo, solo que la capa duplicada era Shade and Shine y le agregé detalles oscuros para resaltar las sombras, luego hice pequeños puntos de hielo, los concentré en el impacto para que se viera mas convincente y otros más que deja atras como una estela.

Finally I added a thick cloud of dust and more raised dirt particles, I also added a snort because it wouldn't be a bull if it didn't snort. >Finalmente agregué una espesa nube de polvo y más partículas de tierra levantados, también agregué un resoplido porque no sería un toro si no resoplara su aliento helado.

The background was a monumental headache, with the amount of detail I did for the impact I had to work with the RAM between 80%~90% of its capacity, so I couldn't add much detail, so I concentrated on the idea of emphasizing Torhilo charge in the simplest way I could think of, blurred stripes to a point in the background. Using the "3VP Perspective Ruler" in Paint Tool Sai 2 I adjusted them to the bull, and a point on the horizon making sure all lines converged to that point and used different shades of saturation of the same color to give the feeling of distance, and I made some mini mountains touched by the clouds. >El fondo fue un completo dolor de cabeza, con la cantidad de detalles que hice para el impacto tenia que trabajar con la memoria RAM entre un 80%~90% de su capacidad, así que no podía agregar muchos detalles, entonces me concentré en la idea de enfatizar la marcha de Torhilo de la forma más sencilla que se me ocurrió, rayas borrosas hacia un punto en el fondo. ># >Usando la regla de tres puntos de fuga que ofrece Paint Tool Sai 2 los ajusté al toro, y aun punto en el horizonte asegurando que todas las líneas convergieran hacia ese punto y usé diferentes tonos de saturacion del mismo color para dar la sensación de distancia, e hice unas mini montañitas tocadas por las nubes.

To finish, I decided to change the direction of the tail to one that was more organic with the line of action, I also added other details of shadows and lights on Torhilo, tails on the ice and earth particles to give the feeling of more speed and centered the dust cloud to act more like an aura of speed and that was it. >Para finalizar, decidí cambiar la dirección de la cola a una que fuera más orgánica con la línea de acción, también agregué otros detalles de sombras y luces sobre Torhilo, colitas en las partículas de hielo y tierra para dar la sensación de más velocidad y centré la nube de polvo para que actuara más como un aura de velocidad y listo.

To be honest, this is one of the drawings I had the hardest time doing, this bull fought against me in every phase, it made me gray hairs when I saw how it consumed more and more RAM and I still had details I wanted to add 😭, with all that in mind, I am satisfied with the result. What do you say, effort was worth it? >A decir verdad este es uno de los dibujos que más me costó hacer, este toro luchó contra mí en cada fase, me sacó canas verdes al ver como consumía más y más RAM y aún tenía detalles que quería agregar 😭, teniendo en cuenta mis limitaciones, estoy satisfecha con el resultado ¿Qué dicen ustedes, tanto esfuerzo valió la pena?.
