To be fair, my first four nodes are a bit underspec for Ceph. If my wishes hadn't inflated halfway through the build, I'd've been fine with four or five nodes.

If I'd properly spec'd the first nodes and gotten the same hardware, I'd have probably avoided most issues and been okay with four nodes. Node number seven has already been ordered.

I'm tar'ing my files into an archive, compressing, encrypting and then splitting them into 20GB chunks for upload offsite. It's a backup, so I don't need live files. That makes it both smaller in size/entries.
