We just set up a new invasive species exhibit with these guys in it! They are in Virginia now, but really just confined to the largest cities.

RE: Why You DON'T Want an Alligator for a Pet: Advice from an Alligator Trainer
@kcheeb I stand by the post 100% and I will explain why. Alligators don't eat nearly as often as a large mammal or other endothermic animals of the same size, this is absolutely true, but it's still a

RE: Why You DON'T Want an Alligator for a Pet: Advice from an Alligator Trainer
I would say it has more to do with the experience of the owner than anything else. A tegu is definitely an advanced animal to keep; they can suffer from a variety of afflictions in captivity, but the bigger

RE: Nature Identification Thread #8- Now Paying out Steem Basic Income Memberships to Participants

Hrmmm that size and shape makes me think some sort of racer then. Whatever it is, its head is really ornate! Did you happen to get a picture of the turtle?

Oh man, those are some nice snakes! I have to admit, I'm not as familiar with Florida's snake species, but this looks either like an Everglades racer (based on length and shape) or maybe a species of ground

RE: Marine Biologists Discover New Ocean Zone
I go back and forth on that. Some fish are pretty tolerant of depth change (to a degree) and move up and down in the water column looking for food. But yeah, if they are adapted to the shallow reef waters,

RE: Marine Biologists Discover New Ocean Zone
I'd say it's true. Not only due to the sheer size and depth of the ocean, but we have to understand the entire ecosystem of the ocean, and there is probably a huge number of organisms we haven't discovered
