Took a ride to check out a 18 acre property within 30 miles of my present place. Beautiful trees. Some open and flat land. Overall I think I have to pass. Too much uneven terrain for what I need. Only

Exploring another revenue stream as well as taking another step towards being self sustainable. We are doing a trial run at microgreens. We left them stacked and covered for 3 days for them to sprout.

One more run
The guys and I made another run to the river. This time for the steelheads. This was my first time targeting these evasive fish. We hook a bunch, but only landed a few. It was freezing but we had a blast!

When the Roos crow, they gotta go!
Our next batch of quails have reached maturity. The males (cocks) crow night and day. So I took an order from a local cook who is always happy to purchase them whenever I have some available. Sad to see

Sunflower success!
This was my first year doing sunflowers. Hoping to use them to supplement my chickens over the winter. They did pretty well. More than half of them survived. Next year I may try to start them earlier.

Chicks galore!
Our local hatchery had an overhatch of chicks. So maybe just one more batch of broiler chickens. Perhaps this batch we will raise as Cornish hens. Any thoughts?

Chicks on pasture
We put our last batch of broiler chicks of the season out on pasture. They look so small in the tall grass. The pasture was just mowed around them. Another move or two and they will be in the short grass.

The calvary!
I found some squash bugs in the garden. They destroyed a cucumber plant in one day and moved on to a squash plant the next. So I sent the girls in to have a go at them. They did not seem to like them.
