What is Microdosing (skip if you already know)

The routine ingestion of a psychoactive substance at sub-perceptual dose in order to achieve the neurological, psychological, and emotional benefits of the substance over a prolonged period without experiencing any sense distortions. Many claim to reap benefits such as alleviation of depression, anxiety, and addiction, as well as enjoying increased focus (Flow State) and creativity.

Why I'm Doing This

I'm at a point in my life where I've slayed many demons, kicked habits, and formed a solid outlook on the world. Some behaviours and habits are straggling and weighing me down - smoking cigarettes, drinking at least once a week to get drunk, and what is commonly referred to as "procrastination." I know I can deal with these things on my own, but a) the hour is getting late, b) I'm tired and want a little help, and c) I love cognitive and spiritual liberty, and curiosity has gotten the best of me.

Set and Setting

Any amount of a psychedelic requires awareness of where one is in life and what is in one's immediate environment.

Six days ago I got pretty drunk at my cousin's 21st, bonded with him for the first time as adults, and cleaned up his vomit. I decided to take a holiday and hang out with the family until returning home today, so I'm feeling plugged in to my family and very secure in myself. Yesterday was the hottest day in Ireland since 1979 and today is just as hot. It has its own mind-altering effect. I also watched a few videos about addiction and recovery by (the amazing) Cg Kid - which left me somewhat disgusted and sad. My desk as I write this has 6 empty beer bottles on it from before I left last week... which sucks to look at.

Doing the Deed

I don't know if I did this right. I followed the instructions for volumetric dosing found on TheThirdWave.co, but didn't consider it needed to be stirred more than a few times. Also, next time I'll up the dilution fluid to 350ml so I can just grab a standard shot glass (35ml) instead of messing with a syringe.

Upon ingestion of 10mg I got a little paranoid. Such a profoundly effective substance should normally make someone weary. An hour in and I've come down from that buzz and found myself mildly amused by the spatial phenomena of a fly buzzing back and forth in front of my head. 70% sure it's just placebo, though - but then again, what is placebo in the throws of a trip?
