Yeah - it can be frustrating, but when you find a FIAT gateway you like that has decent fees - it's good. I am thinking of maybe starting to do more P2P trades also - will report back if and when I try

It varies, but you can see the prices on the map that I linked to. It's not the cheapest way to buy Bitcoin, but for newbies or a convenient method, it's fantastic!

Coinbase is good, BUT, you don't control your own private key. If for some reason something bad happens, you might lose your coins. Here's a story about a similar situation I had:
