Do you remember what your first relationship with money was? Think about your first allowance or maybe when you were selling duplicate stickers or simply trading them, exchanging the rarer ones for others, or who has never gone to buy something at the bakery or grocery store and asked your parents for change to buy a sweet? Now think about it, was this something spontaneous, that no one taught you what to do and how to do it? Many times, it was a way of learning by making mistakes because we received the money, spent it all, then felt regret, but the following month, we did the same thing. But it wasn't out of stubbornness, but due to a lack of guidance, that's where the big problem lies: We often treat money as taboo. The main truth is that I learned in 2018 and have changed a lot since then is that financial education is not about numbers, but about choices. The sooner someone understands this, the sooner they will be prepared to live with freedom, security, and, above all, awareness. But... the question remains: can't it sometimes be too early? I don't think it will ever be too early. Financial education should start in childhood, starting with simple, practical lessons, and of course, adapted to each person's age and reality. There is no manual. My reality is different from yours. But teaching a child that "if they spend everything today, they won't have anything tomorrow" is much more powerful than it seems, because this is not just about math; it is about building character, self-control, and a vision for the future. However, in contrast to this, we have those situations where we often think that "we are too old to learn", which is a mistake in my opinion. Have you ever stopped to think about how many families live in debt, not because of a lack of money, but mainly because of a lack of planning? How many people earn well but spend badly? Who has never heard that phrase: “Ah, but we have to spend/pay in installments, we have to live or we will die and not enjoy anything” ..., but the probability is greater that we are alive. This shows that financial education is urgent at all ages. For example, I started to learn more about investments and savings in 2018. Before that, I spent practically all of my salary before receiving it, often on things I didn't need or that I could have opted for something cheaper, not to mention that I often spent on impulse. The turning point was, I no longer wanted to keep paying only interest and debt; I wanted to improve my quality of life at least a little. Month by month, I sought out online learning (YouTube was a great tool to get started), and with that, I learned and evolved. And why don't we learn this in school? Fortunately, this scenario in Brazil is starting to change, with the curriculum now focusing more on this topic. However, for a long time, schools prepared us to pass the college entrance exam, but not to deal with bills and the reality of our lives. We learned about geometry, angles, and formulas, but we didn't know the basics, such as the interest on credit card revolving credit. We knew how to analyze a prayer and ancient history, but we didn't know how to build an emergency fund. One thing I realize now is that there were not enough people to teach us that money is a tool and not a villain. That saving a little doesn't mean giving up on life, but rather ensuring that you live better for longer, that if you have an emergency, it may be what can save you. That freedom doesn't mean spending without thinking; it's spending with purpose. But then you ask me, what's the best time to start? Simple, today. If you have children, start by saving your allowance by choosing priorities. If you are young, start with simple spending control. Review where your money is going. This will help you to be sure that we can often change our path and evolve. If you are an adult, start with goals. First, organize your financial life, pay off bad debts, think long-term, and reward yourself. For example, if you reach a goal, you will treat yourself to something. It should not be expensive, but something that makes you feel good and motivated. Financial education transforms people's lives because it teaches them that money can be an ally, as long as they learn to lead, and not be led by it. That it is not evil, but rather can be salvation. Hoje é um tema bem interessante que pretendo abordar, mas vamos primeiro voltar ao tempo você se lembra qual foi a sua primeira relação com o dinheiro? Pense em sua primeira mesada ou talvez quando você estava vendendo figurinhas repetidas ou simplesmente negociando elas trocando as mais raras por outras, ou quem nunca foi comprar algo na panificado ou na mercearia e pediu o troco para os seus pais para comprar um doce? Agora pense comigo, isso foi algo espontâneo, que ninguém te ensinou o que fazer e como fazer, muitas vezes foi aquele formato de apreender errando pois recebíamos o dinheiro, gastávamos tudo, aí batia aquele arrependimento na consciência, mas no mês seguinte fazíamos exatamente o mesmo. Mas não era por teimosia, mas por falta de orientação, aí que está o grande problema: Por muitas vezes tratamos o dinheiro como tabu. A verdade é principal que aprendi em 2018 e de lá para cá fui mudando bastante é que a educação financeira não é sobre números, mas sim é sobre escolhas, quanto mais cedo alguém entende isso, mais cedo vai estar preparado para viver com liberdade, segurança e principalmente consciência. Mas... a pergunta que fica é, mas será que as vezes não pode ser cedo demais? Penso que nunca vai ser cedo demais, a educação financeira deve começar na infância, iniciando por lições simples, práticas e claro adaptadas à idade e a realidade de cada um, pois não existe um manual, a minha realidade é diferente da sua realidade, mas ensinar uma criança que “se ela gastar tudo hoje, não terá amanhã” é algo muito mais poderoso do que parece, pois isso não é apenas matemática, é a formação de caráter, autocontrole e visão de futuro. Porém em contraste com isso, temos aquelas situações que muitas vezes pensamos que “estamos velhos demais para aprender”, sendo que isso é um erro na minha opinião, você já parou para pensar quantas famílias vivem endividadas não por falta de dinheiro, mas principalmente por falta de planejamento? Quantas pessoas ganham bem, mas gastam mal? Quem nunca ouviu aquela frase: “Ah, mas tem que gastar/parcelar, a gente tem que viver se não morremos e não aproveitamos nada” ..., porém a probabilidade é maior da gente estar vivo. Isso mostra que educação financeira é urgente em todas as idades. Eu por exemplo, comecei a aprender melhor sobre investimentos e economia em 2018, antes disso, gastava praticamente todo o meu salário antes de receber, muitas vezes em coisas que não precisava ou que poderia optar por algo mais barato, sem contar que por diversas vezes, gastos por impulso. A virada da chave foi, eu não quero mais ficar pagando só juro e dívida, quero melhorar a minha qualidade de vida pelo menos um pouco, foi mês a mês a busca de aprendizado online (youtube foi uma ótima ferramenta para dar o start inicial), com isso fui apreendendo e evoluindo. E Por que não aprendemos isso na escola? Felizmente esse cenário no Brasil está começando a mudar, com a grade curricular passando a ter mais foco nesse tema, mas durante muito tempo, a escola preparava a gente para passar no vestibular, mas não para lidar com boletos e a realidade da nossa vida. Aprendíamos sobre geometria, ângulos, formulas, mas não sabíamos o que era o básico, como por exemplo os juros do rotativo do cartão de crédito. Sabíamos analisar uma oração, a história antiga, mas não sabíamos como montar uma reserva de emergência. Uma coisa que percebo atualmente, é que faltava pessoas para ensinar que dinheiro é ferramenta e não um vilão. Que ao guardar um pouco, não é deixar de viver, mas sim é garantir que você viva melhor por mais tempo, que se você tiver uma emergência é ele que talvez possa lhe salvar. Que a liberdade não é gastar sem pensar, é gastar com propósito. Mas aí você me pergunta e qual o melhor momento para começar? Simples, Hoje. Se você tem filhos, comece como poupar a mesada, com a escolha de prioridades. Se você é jovem, comece com um controle de gastos simples. Reveja para onde seu dinheiro está indo com isso você vai ter a certeza que muitas vezes conseguimos mudar a nossa rota e evoluir. Se você é um adulto, comece com metas. Primeiro organize sua vida financeira, quite dívidas ruins, pense no longo prazo, estimule prêmios para você, por exemplo a alcançar uma meta vou me presentear com algo, não deve se algo caro, mas algo que faça você se sentir bem e motivado. A educação financeira transforma a vida das pessoas pois ela ensina que o dinheiro pode ser aliado, desde que você aprenda a liderar, e não a ser liderado por ele.
