I had that happen to me once as well, thank goodness the mower sound tends to make the small animals run before you do them in, I have not seen anything much cuter then that in the wild. Happy Father's

Probably an old barn's foundation not far from the old seeder. I found the remains of a very old barn on my property a couple years back, funny what you will find out there.

A local health food store might be your best bet for the diatomaceous earth, that's why you often see food grade on the label.

Up here in Zone 5 you need a 4 foot by 4 foot pile in order to get cooking at the proper heat and it takes a full season to compost. I wish I had your warmth, especially this year. It might get as warm

We used to have a peach tree here in New Brunswick, it was a great three years of production. Then winter took a heavy toll one year and we lost her :(
