LET'S CUT STRAIGHT TO THE CHASE

Hi, my name is Martin and this is my first post.

I was browsing around on my computer and stumbled across "myactivity.google.com". I ventured into the site and that part of my brain that goes into "Meta Thinking Mode" kicked in when I explored the vast amount of data that was being collected and displayed, just laid out right before my eyes. Granted, it came as no surprise, but some things just have a more salient effect when you observe them so close up and from a broader more meta analytical frame of reference. I mean... I live right in the heart of what is considered "The deadliest area in all of Los Angeles". The place is called "Death Alley" (you can youtube or search up 'death alley'). By some miracle, I've always heard gunshots and heard of homicides in my area, but never on my immediate street until recently. Long story short, now I'm more serious about relocating immediately. LOL.

Well, after going through all the data and potential data being collected about me from just this one search engine, I have to hold every search engine to that same standard or realm of possibility because, let's face it, I'm no computer genius and have to assume that any programmer or owner/s of a search engine have the same access to the tool kit required to not only collect data, but sway or prime their audience or users arbitrarily in a multitude of ways and from several different angles.

I am a free market voluntary consensual exchange type of guy so I don't care what any provider wishes to do with the platform they create as long as I am free to choose the platform that best suits my needs and preferences.

That being said, Is something like a de-centralized open source search engine plausible?

CLEARLY SEARCH ENGINES IN OUR TIME ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO BIAS, TAMPERING AND A "SKY'S THE LIMIT" STANDARD REGARDING THE POWER AND INFLUENCE A CENTRALIZED SEARCH ENGINE IS CAPABLE OF IN OUR TIME GIVEN THE HUMAN RACE'S ROMANCE AND OBSESSION WITH METRICS AND INFORMATION (ESPECIALLY IN THIS DAY AND AGE). IF YOU SIMPLY PONDER THAT, IT WOULD BE MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR ME.
