Nankintz Punta de Lanza is a profile created in 2016 and used as a medium to spread news and publish information relating to the social and environemental conflicts caused by large-scale mining in Ecuador, particularly in the "Cordillera del Cóndor", a mountain range in the southern amazon region and right in the border with Perú. This profile represents a small network of indigenous leaders, activists, journalists and academics, some of which want to remain anonymous for obvious reasons: oposing to large-scale mining could have serious consequences. The profile picture shows Domingo Ankuash, a well known indigenous leader and member of the Shuar people. As soon as he got to a power position within his community, he began to fight for the right to their territory, expelling settlers as well as mining camps by force when needed. He is part of this small network and he agrees to the use of his face for this profile. No NGO is begind this improvised project. We are totally independent and investigation costs are covered by our own independent activities.
