Liberty Needs New Words
Liberty has a language barrier. The words we use to describe our ideal are meaningless and off-putting to those they might help. "Liberty," "Anarchy," "Natural Rights,"

New House! Before and After Photos
Husband and I closed on our first home on May 15. It was a surprisingly smooth process from shopping to signing, and we are incredibly grateful for that. We weren't looking for a house in earnest when

The Value of Crafts: Thanks, Mom
"Idle hands are the devil's plaything" As soon as our hands were nimble enough, my mother taught my brother and I how to make things. The first thing I remember her teaching us was crochet and

Creole Nature Trail - Day Two
Day one found us at a free, on the beach camping site. No hook-ups but we were prepared with water, food and beer. We had such a good time yesterday and today we decided to stay another night. The first

I Saw My First Alligator!
Our second stop on the Creole Nature Trail was the Cameron Prarie National Wildlife Refuge. The building itself seems to be built into a pond, surrounded by fish, turtles and the sound of bullfrogs. Next

Lacassine Pool
The first stop on our Creole Nature Trail adventure was the Lacassine Pool in the Lacassine National Wildlife Refuge. It is a 16,000 acre freshwater marsh. The number and types of birds is overwhelming.

Long Day of Driving
About 320 miles has brought us to Iowa, Louisiana. We had warm weather and sunshine for the entire trip, though it was a little windy. We took the I10 most of the way, using route 12 to avoid New Orleans.

Last Day on Daughin Island
Heading west, most likely. I have found it difficult to make any concrete plans after this. I'm overwhelmed by the unlimited choices. So far there hasn't been a bad choice.

Anarchist Cross Stitch 1.0
Behold! Libertarian Cross Stitch! I just got a hankering to stitch. Last time I tried to cross stitch must have been when I was eight. Amazing what some years and development of patience can do for the

Dog Friendly Beaches
Meeka is a big part of our travels. I make decisions based on her needs. I'm more likely to pick an RV park with a dog walk or close to a dog friendly beach. We have been very lucky finding beaches that

Mending
Husband busted the knee out of his work pants on Friday, so I had to hustle through a mend today. If we bought new every time he ripped his jeans, we'd be so broke. I've already machine darned the crotch

More Weather
Last night Dauphin Island was under a flash flood watch with a bit of tornado watch thrown in for fun. While watching, I enjoyed a spectacular thunder storm with a good drenching rain. As the rain stopped,

I'm thinking of taking up cross stitch
Plotted a pattern out, but neither of the nearby craft stores sell stitch canvas, so I won't get to start until maybe tomorrow.

Create the community you want to live in
My husband and I are buying a house. It's a three bedroom on half an acre in a small town; population ~1,300. I'll post photos, when we close! For now, here's an artist's rendering. We're pretty excited

Finished our time on the Natchez Trace by walking on the original trace. This is a path worn by people walking on it for hundreds of years. It's close to 15 feet deep.

Rocky Springs on the Natchez Trace
We spent last night at another free campground on the Natchez Trace. It is so beautiful! We didn't stay long but plan on traveling the entire parkway in the near future. Only downside? No internet.

Office Policy
"What does anyone need a gun for, anyway?" A quip in an unrelated thread. Who nodded? Who didn't. It's not a discussion. It's a survey. Are you like me? Or are you other. Are you pack? Or prey.
