So what might happen, the computer scientists posited, if they could harness newer technologies — like the software used for digital currencies, or the technology of peer-to-peer music sharing — to create a more decentralized web with more privacy, less government and corporate control, and a level of permanence and reliability?'. **Come in SUB.** The team are producing a blockchain and network that many experts agree is the next step in the evolution of the internet. The Substratum network will be a worldwide collection of nodes (individual computers that are used to transmit messages on the blockchain) that uses cryptography to deliver secure internet content anywhere, all without the need for VPNs or Tor. If you currently pay for a VPN, this is great news for you. Rather than having to pay a VPN subscription, you will soon be able to implement the SUB tech in any default browser and surf completely anonymously for free. Not only this, but those who run the browser actually get paid for doing so in the form of Substratum tokens. **There are more benefits.** The SUB network also functions as a website/database hosting server which could disrupt the current billion dollar market. Amazon Web Services launched a US$3.5 billion per year hosting business which allows you to pay for how many minutes you run a web / database server. This will bring in strong developer support and will accelerate the growth of the decentralised web on the Substratum Network. The dev team is solid - they are a US based software development firm who for the last 10 years has created software solutions for Fortune 100 companies such as Apple, Facebook, Disney, HP and more.
