@richardterrace: Why don't you do like I did, and get yourself an older version of Ubuntu? I struggled with it all the same and went for Ubuntu 14.04. If you do that this guide should do the trick!

@paulpuk2000: I know the second part is more technical. I wanted to write a story of how it felt to me working on the whole cryptocurrency thing and learning as I went. So it's a bit of a personal story.
