I do contract archaeology for a living in the United States. It truely is exciting piecing together the past and researching the history of our limited cultural resources.

Rarely are excavations funded by anyone. In the USA, cultural resource management is required to avoid disturbing burials. Researching subsurface history is few and far between. @pagosa

Im glad you're interested in archaeology, many people are, funding comes from public interest. As long as we stay intereted in archaeology cultural resource programs can continue. People lost interest

Pagosa Springs is amazing during summer. Winter is beautiful, plus there's skiing. has a great events calendar.
