My impression is that the price of Factoids reacts more and more sensitive on News and also on the Bitcoin-price the more attention Factom gets. That's in general a reason why I personally don't focus

In very short terms Factom is about recording hashes of data in time. A hash is like a unique fingerprint of a file. That doesn't seem big on first sight, but in fact it is. It's about: Proof of Existence:
