You'll still be able to turn your steempower back into steem, but it will take 2 years to get all of it back out (they split the payment up into 104 parts). It is not very liquid. The pro is you do earn

What form are your STEEM holdings in? If it's SP, it will take 2 years (they break it up into 104 parts). If it's STEEM or SBD, you can move them out now and exchange if you want. Having SP gains you interest

There's also another way besides the one @dlwagner posted (not that he's wrong, just another way). You can also use blocktrades.us and then send btc directly to a user on steemit, and they receive it as

Yeah if I remember right on blocktrades you write @(name) (so I would write @psychoserenity) and then how much BTC you want to send (receive as Steem) and that's it. Downside: right now it says BTC fees

But isn't that how Steemit is built (for good or for bad)? Anyone can come in, create an account, buy a $hit ton of STEEM on blocktrades, transfer it over, power up, and start off with a very high upvote?
