there's possibly millions of transactions on layer 2 (which ethereum doesn't have) while bitcoin has 2000 ln nodes alone and 110k+ nodes on l1 . btc transactions are batched so 500k is more accurate figure

Some notes: Volumes have been as high as 2k btc/day visible here It's usually comparable or bigger than many smaller altcoin exchanges. There are numerous bots for all major pairs that will fill your orders
