Encrypting the posting keys was one of the first possibilities considered. But of course it involves yet another password from the user which goes against the idea to make the login process really simple.

I have already answered this question on the Discord server. In theory social login could be done in conjunction with posting authority. The main issue is that now steemlogin would have to act as a proxy

Hi @jacekw, I haven't really used Keychain which seems like a great project but I guess the main difference is that SteemLogin doesn't require a specific browser with a particular extension installed.
