It's not at all, I am not sure what kind of blueing they use, but it's worthless. I've worked on a few 870s that had a lot of surface rust from finger prints.

I use KG Gunkote, and yes it is more or less rust proof and totally solvent proof. I highly recommend it for anything Remington.

And he's not wrong, I'll never get rid of the gen 2 lower. The gun 3, current production, is made of billet. The gen 2 is was made from a forging, which made it stronger. Current stuff is overpriced IMO

Thank you. As for Noveske, they use to make really good stuff. Since the founder died they haven't really made anything new, 90% of their products are rebrands. This is a Gen2 lower, best thing they put
