Global marketplace TREOS, based in Malta, and its decentralised team of developers have announced today that they have progressed with a corporate rebrand. TREOS is a self-governed and decentralised ecosystem for merchants and buyers, driven by smart contracts, created with the intention of building a new economy for the people, by the people.

As a ready-built and privately-funded platform, the TREOS online marketplace will be publicly launching this year. TREOS is being legally incorporated in Malta, and is currently in the process of applying for their Class 4 licence under the Virtual Financial Assets Act (VFAA). The TREOS rebrand is in keeping with this journey forward into this new space, bringing to market a new, regulated stable token, anchored to the price of gold, and a platform from which the public can advocate for the development of the cryptocurrency sector.

The new brand is well suited to European pronunciation, to complement the team’s new global base and Customer Experience Centre being established in Malta. “What we are bringing to the market has never been done before,” says CEO, Dan Spiteri. “With our marketplace launch so close, we’ve wanted to shift the emphasis away from ‘coins’ towards the higher functionality of our three tokens. The community has spoken and nominated a name that can more easily relate to digital assets that are fungible and tradeable. A raft of new advisors and specialists have now joined the TREOS team, bringing industry-leader knowledge in everything from economics to Decentralised Autonomous Organisations (DAOs), and announcements of these appointments will soon be forthcoming. Today, as part of this strong team, Dan is pleased to announce the appointment of Chief Operations Officer, Alexander P. Vella. Alex has operated as Founder and CEO of Vella Technologies, and co-founded the Southwest Florida Regional Technology Partnership, bringing more than 20 years of strategic leadership experience to the team. Alex is based in Malta and has been using his experience in the DLT/Blockchain sector to actively transition TREOS to operate within the regulatory guidelines of the Virtual Financial Assets Act (VFAA), 2018.
